So recently I've seen a lot of people complaining (Including Myself) in the shoutbox about how we can't talk about certain topics because they are not "PG". While in a way I understand where the staff are coming from with this, it's not fair to the older/users who act older to "pretend" to act "Child-Friendly". One thing needs to be made clear, it is not our job as a community to parent these younger users and shield them from adult content. That's their parents job, and if these parents are letting their kids run rampant across the Internet I feel we shouldn't have to suffer due to the ignorance of parents.

So what I propose is a section of our forums where users can discuss mature/Non-PG related topics without the scrutiny of "Child-Friendly" users and staff. Now this section would only be used to discuss topics that are Non-PG. This does not mean users can just go around posting pornographic content or stories on drugs, no. There will be no talk of sexual activities/drugs in this section. I've simply seen too many communities ruined by attempting to appeal to a younger audience whilst throwing the older audience under the bus.

Now that the suggestion is out of the way, I'm going to argue some of the points that will probably make their way onto this thread:

"This would break the theme of the site" First off, what exactly is the "theme" of this site? In one part of our forums we're selling steam items and in another section we're selling Minecraft builds. So do tell what our "theme" is because I'm just seeing us as an overall marketplace at this point.

"What if little kids find their way onto this section of the forum?" Simple, we have a message stating that this section of the forum contains explicit content and may not be suitable for younger users, viewer discretion advised. With this being stated, if a kid gets onto this part of our forums and doesn't like what they see it's their own fault for ignoring the warnings and the section itself shouldn't suffer to to one's stupidity. (Note, the message would look like this)

Last thing I would like to say is, if a staff member is reading this and doesn't like it. Don't just lock it! I'd like to see more than one opinion on this that isn't from a staff member, but your opinions are also welcomed to be shared. If you agree/disagree please leave a reason thanks!

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

says the guy who posts crocodile dicks in the shoutbox...
Users wouldn't be allow to post pornographic pictures/videos in this section but could they talk about such things? Maybe.

he just admitted to doing it -_-
I never said he didn't post a picture, I just said it wouldn't be allowed if this section were to be established.[DOUBLEPOST=1460216955][/DOUBLEPOST]A good example of something similar to this is Cartoon Network. During the day they host shows that are for a younger audience, I've seen my five year old cousins watching shows on the network. However, by night adult swim begins and the Non-PG goes away. While doing this they appeal to both younger and older audiences and probably get more views as is. This section could bring an older audience to the site!

I mean I'm fine with that. If these kids are so innocent and young they shouldn't even be on this site trying to make money in the first place. I'm just tired of seeing older users being put off by staff because some younger member is having a hissy fit.[DOUBLEPOST=1460217507][/DOUBLEPOST]Look at it this way, the warning is almost like a staff member giving you a warning. If you choose to not listen to that warning there will be consequences. In this case they'd be exposed to adult content and to a staff member it'd be getting a warning/suspension.

More like "Immature section"

While I don't have any problem with some good dirty humor, having an entire section dedicated to sex is just sad. And disgusting.
Attract older audiences?
Are you kidding me?
Older audiences would not be so immature to come to a minecraft forum to talk about sex.
That's what 13 year olds do.
So there's really no point in saying "Oh, this is just for adults", yeah no.
Majority of those using this would be children/perverts(great combo!), and you'd be ignorant to claim otherwise.

We aren't so pathetic that we need a sex dedicated section.
I'm sure you can find something else to spend your time talking about.
This is completely unprofessional.
It doesn't belong on MCM.
Keep it on [Censored].
Goodbye.

Mature topics are not always sex, but thanks for generalizing it! I'm sure we could find more things to talk about, but sometimes I'd like to talk about non-PG things. I also stated that older/users who act older would be interested in this section. Again, thanks for putting words into my mouth![DOUBLEPOST=1460217878][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, this would probably move a lot of the Non-PG talk from shotubox to this section making to job of a chat moderator easier. That might just be the way I see it though.

I don't think what Sloth is trying to create is exactly a whole section based on the topic of sex... What I think he is trying to do is bring up a new section based on things that wouldn't be suitable to discuss in front of children. Let's say Mint and I wanted to discuss Game of Thrones, it's rated TV-MatureAudiences. We wouldn't want children to stumble upon us discussing death, violence, and okay maybe a little sex. It's not our fault we are mature audience for this sort of stuff and they aren't.

Also, I kinda use inappropriate and/or strong language on these forums to make my point. I don't want kids learning from me so I'd rather have a section in which I can talk more freely than in front of children.

So how exactly would you keep the kids from lying about their age and getting in anyway? I mean, we all did it, and we all still do it. How many of us lied about our age when we said we were 18 on making a paypal account?

EXACTLY! People are trying to generalize everything to "sex" when there are so many things to discuss that have no relation to sex. I even stated a few times that users wouldn't be allowed to post pornographic images and video, yet people only hear what they want to hear.[DOUBLEPOST=1460218264][/DOUBLEPOST]

There's no lock on this? This would be open to anyone who desires to chat about Non-PG topics. If a 12 year old ignores the warnings given out and comes in it's their own fault. No point in restricting the age limit because you're right. People lie.

Then what the hell is the point? we all know 0 of the kids on here are going to heed the warning, so it'll be no different from talking about stuff anywhere else on the forum.
