Hello peoples. After a few weeks of the newly implemented tree rearrangement I have noticed some of the pros and cons (please note that these are just how I feel about it, there may be some stuff I disagree with) of the new ordering of forums and categories and I am making this suggestion to fix the problems. The main problem I see with the current system we have is that there are too many forums which can be fixed by making some of them sub-forums. Below is a list of the current node arrangement and my proposed updated one.

The way it is formatted is the following:

Below is a list of the changes made between the two arrangements:
  • Suggestions and Trash moved to the 'MC-Market' category
  • Discussion moved up to the second category (rather than after marketplaces and services)
  • General Discussion changed to On-Topic Discussion
  • On-Topic Discussion now has several sub-forums including 'Advice & Assistance', 'Development Discussion', 'Server Discussion', 'Tutorials', and 'Feedback'
  • 'Member Tutorials' now changed to 'Tutorials & Guides'
  • Off-Topic Discussion now has 'Hobby Discussion' and 'Forum Games' as its sub-forums
  • 'Premium Forums' category now changed to 'Premium Forum' under 'Discussion'
  • Most Minecraft Services now have 'Requesting' and 'Offering' sub-forums
  • Advertising now has two additional sub-forums, 'YouTubers' and 'Other'
  • 'Middleman' Forum renamed 'Middlemen'
  • 'Thread Drafts' now a part of 'Help & Support'

Please answer the poll above to give me your thoughts about this. If you feel that there's another problem with our current arrangement that you feel needs to be changed, comment it and I will update this thread to include it.

Thanks,
Mick

(Please note that all changes shown on this thread may not be implemented, but I just wanted to get the input of the community about this)

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

There's some problem with logic here. Off-topic discussion IS general discussion. I swear there are some real retards running this site. The TOPIC here is a marketplace. General discussion is not ON-TOPIC because you sell this site is a MINECRAFT MARKETPLACE. It's not that hard, people.

You have a general discussion section that mick is hell bent on calling on-topic discussion, and you also have an off-topic section????

Am I blind or did you remove general? I'm almost convinced you guys don't use any other forums. Most large communities do have a general / all-purpose subforum near the top. You can argue until you're blue in the face that this is a marketplace and that type of category should be at the bottom, etc etc... The popular consensus is that the general category should be near the top. It's what gives the community a personality.
It is an important part of a site, an off-topic discussion forum that is. This site uses it too much, but yeah, the general idea is that it's usually appropriate for most sites. Keeping it there he too, that's not the popular consensus unless you're referring to other Minecraft sites or your own site, and not the wider, large forums. It depends completely on the niche.[DOUBLEPOST=1454242306,1454242176][/DOUBLEPOST]To be honest, I stopped reading after 'discussions' but the rest of his ideas aren't so stupid after all. Easier to navigate, I suppose. Appropriate sectioning for such a site.
