Many people on here actually depend on MCM as a business to keep food coming in, or rents being paid. Some people on here have paid for stickies but if MCM is down for hours at a time, what are they paying for?

I will start keeping track of the uptime of MCM and I hope that Mick and his team can keep it above 95%.

I won't assume the complexity of fixes, but there are plenty of ways and methods to avoid downtime while upgrading or fixing such as staging servers.

Let's aim for that 95% Uptime, you can keep track as well here:

Note that the 20% was recorded since the downtime started, it should go up as MCM stays up.

98.5% still isn't great. Not when most forums are up 99.8%+ of the time.

When they are down, its mostly scheduled maintenance. Where the users are actually informed before hand. Not just the forum suddenly keeling over and dying at a moments notice.

If you're going to try to make a counter, at least get as much information as possible from the past to not make MCM look worse than it is.

MCM has been down for 15 hours out of the past 952 (40 days), so add that information to your totals if you really care about having an accurate reading of downtime for the site. Jack's already made one of these which I showed and his conveys more information from more time.

98.5% Is still in a higher grade than what you give it credit for. Considering this is only counting the last 40 days it is not much to go off of as far as accuracy goes.

What is your issue with the website going down for maintenance? If there is an issue they want to work out and they work it out so what? Do you expect MCM to always bend over for your time schedule. Any form of down-time is causing issues for someone whether it is when you want to get on or while your sleeping.

I personally find that people complaining it causes them loss of business is more of a joke.
Let's assume you make from the site 14,400 a year (Minimum wage in my state)
You would lose $216/Year assuming the up-time stays exactly at 98.5%
Considering this site is the reason you can even provide your business to the semi-large audience I can't see how it owes you much.

Stickies and other things I understand that you pay for but I don't see a reasonable complaint until its under 90%.
The main $20/week banner ad on the main page costs ~$0.001984/minute to run.
Which using the 98.5% Is only 30 cents of a loss.

The last 40 days is perfectly fine. If you where to go back much further than that, you would be going back to when BeBosny managed the forum, and there wasn't any unexpected downtime. Therefor the results would be bias because of that. I'm only considering from when the problems started.

This site if effectively a business for both Mick and its users. Uptime should be one of the top priorities, only second to security. If most other forums are up 99.8% of the time. Why cant MCM? (Mick hasn't stated any reason for the downtimes either)

Its not "maintenance". Maintenance is something that is scheduled and planned, sometimes in extreme cases started immediately, and users are quickly informed. In the case of MCM, the forum just stops working randomly, to the point it does this most days. Usually for a matter of minuets. Sometimes longer like last night. There is no maintenance page, no prior warning, so the only assumption that can be drawn is that something has just gone wrong. (Something that didn't happen before Mick took over). (If he would explain what is actually happening, and why. I'd be more understanding).

You have taken an average. Lets say I purchased a sticky and last nights random downtime ran though it. There are 168 hours in a week, 3 and a half of them the forum was down because of last night. That makes 5.88%. So $1.176 (Almost $1.2) which is 4 times what you where making it out to be. That's without considering the previously mentioned time it goes down been a peak time.

All I want is Mick to let people know what is actually going on and why all this downtime is happening. Surely that cant be too much to ask for?

Jack made it after the huge downtime though. So, if you include that I think it would be below 95%.

The site became so slow recently.
It took me 10 seconds to move to another page.
