Members of the Month.

So maybe every month we have 5 members of the month. These people will be awarded for their helpfulness, kindness etc, and ultimately chosen by staff members. Then give them a badge as a "reward" what do you think?

While this seems cool, I feel like it would bring other people down if they didn't get chosen. Plus, I could see favoritism playing a role in selection if the staff members are choosing.

You could probably vote for one person I guess.

Member of the month is on a lot of forums out there with a medal, its a good idea and i like it but the only problem is it usually turns in to a favoritism thing where only the 'popular' people get it and shun the regular members

Thats why staff elect 10 canidates and we vote for 5. So you really cant have favoritism.

staff can still pick their favourites, no matter hwat you do you cant stop favoritism with things like these. I still like the idea tho, i just feel that there will be too many members who often post helpful things but are not well known because they dont spam whore the place and they will be missed. most often people will vote for the amount of times they have seen a person they recognize over the quality of the content the person is posting

This seems pretty pointless. It'd just be a popularity contest between the staff members if they decide. Same thing goes for normal users.
