Middleman requirements

Lately, there have been many new members and members with no rep and vouches creating middleman threads and scamming. I've talked to Mick in pms about creating a system where people where you can't create a thread unless you meet those requirements.

Requirements like:
- 6 months of joining
- 15-20 rep
- 500 posts
- 100 reactions

The problem about reputation is that you can get it easily, tell people to rep you for no reason and you rep them back which isn't a legitimate deal.

This has been suggested before and I believe it was put in pending. I'll try to find it.

THe only one I found was made by Latouth which was denied and made on last September.

Agreed but maybe not 100 reactions. There are some people here with 500 posts and no reactions. Really just comes to luck or people trolling you with "funny". Maybe 50? ( Nvm 100 reactions isn't that hard to get... )

That would put too much liability on MC-Market should we "verify" a member that ends up scamming.

I'm not really sure why we need all these requirements... Especially since the information you're looking to base it off of is already public info.
Every single user here is perfectly capable of looking at that info themselves and determining whether or not they meet your standard for a middleman, if not, then simply don't use them.

Scammers are going to scam.
If a scumbag joins the forum with the intention of ripping off one or more of our members, they're going to do so.
Locking out absolutely everyone under a certain number of <criteria> won't prevent scams.
It'll just disperse them into other forums; and then what?

I'd prefer if, instead of putting chains on all the new users everywhere that we can, we all just take some personal responsibility for who we deal with.

Hello there.

I've been a couple of different marketplaces, all designed differently and works in their own shoes.
MCM is a totally different marketplace and doesn't involve that many 'tangible' stores and services.

A Middleman is a trusted person, helping out the community by creating a scam-free environment.
Although some of the middle-men starting off could be trustworthy, the majority of the users don't know that.

A Middleman tag or prefix is something that is debatable for MCM, but overall, would be needed and valued.

He didn't actually attempt to scam, he couldn't pay back in time and took responsibility and got banned.

I think it's your own problem if you decide to choose someone with no rep. Like, it's common sense, choose someone who is reputable. If you get scammed because you chose someone with literally no reputation, you're a dumbass

The point of this thread is to reduce scams and your point isn't helping at all.

Your "requirements" won't help at all. All it does is limits who makes the threads. 99% of the community is fucking smart enough to know who to pick as a middleman.

If you see someone with 0 rep versus 15 rep; who do you pick? It's self-explanatory and we don't need a requirement to middleman.
