Wait for the New update :D And see what happens.

To be honest, the newer games you mention above are mostly too flat and are missing an important aspect that Minecraft does offer. Minecraft is an open platform with endless possibilities. Creativity, pvp and minigame like. There isn't a similar game that offers what Minecraft does.

But I have to agree it feels like the overall MC Community is getting smaller due to hyped games and hyped youtubers playing those games. (I am guilty too)

And between us Dutchies... Our national player base died way to fast due to the main Youtubers passing on to other games(That are more profitable).

Another reason is obviously that most teenagers move on the moment they pass a certain age.

We shall see where Minecraft stands in a year :p
Oh, hallo mijn Nederlandse vriend! But, yeah, we'll see where Minecraft gets to![DOUBLEPOST=1522872593][/DOUBLEPOST]
And half of them are people hacking on alts ;)
Haha lol!

After a quick Google search I found this website with Minecraft Multiplayer statistics. The site has a few cool updated charts with statistics ranging from server locations, players online at specific times, and server versions.

I am not affiliated with this site whatsoever - https://minecraft-statistic.net/en/global_statistic.html

I apologize if it's against the rules to share the Minecraft statistics website link.

I don’t play the game, I just offer services for it and own servers which are run by my managers.

Battle royales has gotten a lot of attention the last couple years, and now with the free to play battle royale game "Fortnite" a lot of Minecraft players decided to switch over to Fortnite because of the hype. I don't believe Minecraft is dying, I believe people are taking a "break" from Minecraft to play Fortnite while the hype is as big as it is.

Every fucking week I see another thread whining about this shit. Just because it's no longer THE hottest issue on the gaming interwebs does not mean it's dying. Your fav giga-servers being full of cancer kids does not mean it's dying (LoL and DOTA2 are full of cancer, and they're still very much alive).
What it DOES mean is that a lot of the old guard are leaving for whatever reason, and new people come in, with different aims, different priorities and different style. This might make it less fun for you, and therefore mean that you perceive a form of decay, much the same way some old dude might see decay in 'kids these days'. Does it mean it's dead? nope, it means it's past its prime at the very least from YOUR perspective, meaning that perhaps you should consider getting TFO and moving on with your life.
Minecraft as it is now will change, perhaps beyond recognition (Bedrock being a new focus), but it will stabilize and stay around for a while. I for one won't consider the game properly dead until the active playerbase drops below 1 million and Mojang has ceased all major development. This might take a full decade.

All in all, if you don't enjoy the game anymore, that's currently on you and on YOUR preferences, and I highly advise you to go do something else that you WILL enjoy.
I'm still here because I enjoy making stuff in Minecraft a HELL of a lot more than pretty much every job I have even the vaguest chance of getting IRL, and I intend to use it as a stepping stone to game development. I stopped playing the game YEARS back, and while I occasionally retry it its just not engaging me anymore, simply because I've already done everything there was to do and either didn't enjoy it or enjoyed it for a while until I'd done it too much. But that's on me, not on the game.

Is minecraft dying? Idk, ask yourself, "am I dying?" "are my parents dying?" (if they actually are, my bad). In our own ways, we're all dying, but so slowly that we still get to enjoy life. Minecraft is currently going through its mid-life crisis (with shiny new bedrock and marketplace and all that). It's past its prime, but its well over a decade from retirement or death.

I got the game back in 1.4.7. I don't "play" Minecraft, but yeah I would say it's on a decline. Every game will be like that, and it's just a way of the industry. No, it's not near close to "dying", and there's still money to be made.

No. We’re all quitting as were older so it seems to be dying, but a game like this won’t die because there is an endless supply of 11 year olds.

There will always be new kids that will start playing the game it’s a continuing cycle and seeing as how popular Minecraft is with a younger audience I don’t see it dying for a long time[DOUBLEPOST=1522944709][/DOUBLEPOST]Also remember that Minecraft is one of the top or the top app on any phones AppStore so still

I played minecraft when it was $5... I doubt the game will ever die, but it may have less and less players. Minecraft is relevant enough to stay here for a long time. Plus, theirs those annoying ass minecraft youtubers like 'DanTDM', that make millions off of just having 'minecraft' in their title.

Grace.

Yes. It's inevitable, many people don't realize how damn old Minecraft is. Minecraft is almost a decade old, considering that, it's very popular. As others have said - Games wont be relevant forever.[DOUBLEPOST=1522948087][/DOUBLEPOST]

DanTDM doesn't even really record minecraft anymore, - just goes to show.
