Minecraft Server Help

To begin with I have no idea where to post this, so if you need to move this thread, admins/mods, go for it.

OKAY!
I am in the process of making a minecraft server and for some unknown reason my messages_en and config's chat are not working. Actually, the only thing that is NOT working is when someone chats, the format it comes out in. I have EssentialsChat installed (from spigot) so it should be working. I tried resetting the config and removing the messages_en but neither one is working D:

Alright so your main problem as Jed M pointed out is you need to take out your essentials messages config from the .jar itself by using winrar, Once you take it out thats when you edit and all that and then /ess reload. if you want add me on skype TheRealVexxyy and I can help you do it.

To edit the chat messages, go into your config.yml, edit it, save it, and do /ess reload in-game. TO edit the messages displayed such as when you do /balance, /pay, /spawn, /tpa, etc.. that is in the messages.properties. If there isn't one, make one and download a default messages.properties somewhere online, edit the messages from there.

Finally fixed it. (Well, the essentials, at least.) Turns out that it wasn't anything having to do with Essentials. It was Factions' config ChatFormat that was doing it -__-
