There aren't a lot of users which will pay to enter a server.
I tried something like that already (Just for testing) on a old network that i wanted to close.
My whole staff hated this idea and left the team. Noone paid.

It depends on the execution, but in essence you are right, I guess. Still, it's allowed. And you can all take examples of how Hypixel and Mineplex do it. They give donator ranks access to a beta-testing server for new gamemodes. you could have a system where people with a on-server donator rank can get access to a fancy custom resourcepack, or (like hypixel's 'housing') a way for them to build their own home on a server, with the option for non-paying players to unlock it as well.

The point here is mostly to turn your server from one that is obviously pay2win into a server that's a maybe. The maybes will get skipped over because its not worth the bother.

Its not based on playerbase, its based on reports. If someone reports your server they will contact you. So you guys better start hiding your server IPs from people that dont like you.

So you're saying if somebody reports my 10 playerbase server, which is making maybe $100 a month, and I don't change my store, mojang are going to sue me? Sue a 15 year old?

Mojang doesn't have the resources to keep tabs on every server that's reported. Therefore, they will only go after the reported ones with large playerbases.
Yea they do have the resources as they recently hired an entire EULA Brand Enforcement team. Remember Minecraft is now owned by Microsoft. They dont care how much you make, they care if your breaking the rules and if you have been reported.

I am not saying they will sue every single person, but they will 100% shut down your server or contact your server hosting company.

there's literally thousands of servers that break the eula, they aren't going to sue everybody who is reported.

And lol, I use OVH, I'm not going down anytime soon.

I didn't say they are going to sue everyone, that would lose them money. They will contact OVH as they are fucking Microsoft and can do whatever the fuck they want and get your shit shut down.

What happens when I get a new host and forward my domain to that IP? It'd be too time consuming and costly for them, it just wouldn't work.
Dude im not defending them, im just saying they wont make your life easy.

They don't have the resources to keep tabs on thousands of servers. Microsoft are not the government, they can't shut down anything without legal action.
Um lol what, yea they can shut down your server because its in their game haha.

They don't have to take legal action, they just have to terminate all accounts related to your IP and continue doing so until they win.

They can't without legal action. If I'm the CEO of a company, I can't just contact a hosting company and say shut this down. Unless they were threatening legal action against OVH themselves, but that'd give microsoft a horrible name.

Yea except they can. "OVH your hosting service is being used to upkeep a server which breaks our EULA, here is a contract which shows we will pursue with legal action if you do not shut down the server after the 7 day grace period which we have given the server." You think OVH wants problems with fucking microsoft lol?
