All you need to know is that the username is taken, why would they need to give you the uuid.. Do you really think some kid named tavon is part of the illuminati and his name cannot be revealed because lord Voldemort might eat his soul? No, he was just being frank and telling the truth that he does not wish to tell you that information, nothing stupid or rude about it.

I think this is pretty ridiculous for a mojang employee to not give me the UUID, and just thought I'd share.
Marc_IRL is this really how the staff are trained?

He's not your slave, and you're not entitled to the account. He was right, you were wrong, and you're the one that comes off looking like an entitled jerk.

God they are idiots.

He gave the exact right answer.

Another case of "I didn't get what I want, so Mojang sucks".

Basically, this every time.

The quality and efficiency of Support has decreased so much over the last couple of months.

It's directly because of people like you that information is locked down tighter now. What you think is stupidity is an unwillingness to let the asshats of this forum socially engineer and scam information from the support team. People bitch about "Well why don't you make accounts more secure?" when in fact that's going on constantly, both on a software side, as well as me showing people these threads. Every time you people come up with some new "exploit" to "just email to support" to steal an account, I share this with the team.

Make no mistake everyone, this is your fault.

Not to be a dick or anything, but what is the explaination for the account not showing up on those sites then if its taken?

And I mean.. UUIDs are pretty much public info, how could a UUID be "exploited" etc. I dont see why the support team wouldn't tell him the UUID when it for some reason can't be looked up for that specific account.

Certain cases can prevent a username to become "deleted", namely chargebacks or support manually deleting. Note this is not a TRUE deletion, just a flag, as the username/profile still exists on the Mojang account, but is not accessible. That name could be "un-deleted" in the future, for example if the bank messed up on the purchase and it gets fixed by support. NameMC is not properly handling these cases, and I've let their dev know. The reason we don't usually give this explanation is it's an awful lot of extra words and insider terminology with the result still being "the account is registered and you can't have it".

Mojang Support is not obligated to give you or anyone the UUID for an account. Don't ask questions about accounts you don't own, it wastes their time.

Thank you for the explaination.

I understand being wary of security concerns and everything and I have first hand experience with how annoying customer service can be, but isn't the point of UUIDs for them to be public so people can look up name change history for bans and stuff on their servers?

I'm not saying that justifies annoying your staff or anything, but if there's some kind of security concern with giving out UUIDs then isn't that a problem on Mojang's end?

I've personally answered nearly 50,000 support cases and I've never once been asked for a UUID, so it literally never comes up. There is no security concern. Look up the UUID yourself if you have an issue. Again, don't ask questions about accounts that aren't yours.

Guess there was a mutual misunderstanding. You responded to his question with stuff about security issues stemming from people on this site scamming people so I assumed that was part of your answer about why he wouldn't give out his UUID.

Exactly, there is no security concern. I did look up the UUID, and it didn't show up. I would have been 100% ok if he simply told me the UUID, and that something else had happened to the account.

If your username is TylerOG like your mcm name, your uuid is cbbbef26-921f-41a7-a245-e7470f89f9c8. Oh shit your information is on the loose, incoming hacks
