Heya -

So, I'm planning on moving out in August 2021, into a house (plan on taking a mortgage). It won't be easy, but I got a few questions for anybody who has moved out like this.

I'm scared of being alone, it sounds stupid and whatnot - but when I was alone in my family's house for 4 days I was scared shitless - I closed all the doors and made sure all blinds were down. I guess it's just the feeling of loneliness and not knowing what'll happen if somebody were to break it? I've always had somebody in the house with me I suppose - except the odd occasion or two.

I'm also scared about finance and whatnot - it'll be an investment, a good investment, but I need to save up a lot on top of what I already have to be able to get it.

I'm looking at around £6000-£8000 a year for all bills (mortgage, electricity, gas, etc). Before you comment "that's so cheap" - it's because I plan on moving to Scotland, stuffs much cheaper and different up there. ( 2-3 bedroom semi-detached )

I'd want that 6-8 grand saved up by the time I move out - so I know I have one year's worth of bills free of charge.

How do I just stop worrying/overthinking about it? And what would be a good way to just get some extra cash from now till August to help out with getting that goal?

Also is renting out rooms to people (who I know personally), a good idea? To get money to pay for other bills, food, etc?

If you're buying a house I recommend not being on mcm and get a job irl

Mortgage. No way I could ever afford to buy a house for 90grand.

Work part-time but it's not really a good source of income at all - I make more money from doing jobs on MCM. (Average) I make around 1-2k USD a month.

Don't be scared bro and don't over think. Do it for your self. You have to fight your fear and believe in yourself! Its tough but its an adventure. When you move out and get used to it. You'll love it. The freedom, the loneliness it actually becomes a great friend. Don't be scared of it! And good luck!
Aye! Thank you :') It'll be hard, no doubt - but I feel like I'll get there, I like an adventure.

I suppose I could always have friends over but yeah - a few years of living by myself and I'll hopefully be okay <3

Thank you though! I appreciate the kind words and advice ;)

If you're scared to be on your own might be worth renting out a room to a friend, would also help with bills.
Two problems solved in 1 go.

If anybody can move in with me, that’s the plan!

You won't be able to secure a mortgage without a stable and provable income source which you will need to provide to your lender. Due to the current economic conditions lenders have also tightened their criteria for lending significantly.

You will not be able to secure a mortgage at your level of income. They will generally also not lend to students.

They won't give it to me - no, but they'll give it to my parents, who'll be assisting me with it.

It's just cheaper, especially for university, to get a house this way - rather than getting student accommodation in itself.
