The characters $-_.+!*'(), should all have no issues in a URL according to the standard RFC 1738 specifications.
Mainstream services also allow ~#%&=*;. Unless MCM has a special system in place that ignores these, then there really shouldn't be any reason to disallow $ as far as I can tell.

This is so unnecessary and could cause tons of unnecessary bugs.
I don't think these would cause bugs honestly?
especially with User 's reasoning

*mcm uses ids in urls.
a lot of xenforo sites actually use usernames.
xenforo*
using usernames in urls is a configurable option for seo last i checked (pretty sure it's called friendly urls or whatever). even then, the '.' part which separates the uid is what is actually used and not the username. so either way, no effect.

We've significantly limited the number of characters which are allowed in usernames to ensure that it is easy and convenient to tag others. Previously people included characters in their names which had to be copied and pasted which was a huge pain for usability. Usernames should be easy to pronounce and type and since we don't allow special characters, $ is included in that.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion a$a
