I actually took classes for python at Columbia University over the summer. I really enjoyed it. How do I step it to the next level after I learned the basics?

Great question. You know the basics so I advise do you to challenge yourself. Make a small project, set a goal and make it happen.
I personally do Discord Bots in python, and they are EXTREMELY easy to do. If you are interested in them, DM me and I can show you a YT Tutorial which I followed and is great, easy to follow and a great community. That YTer has a d.py (discord.py) help server and you can ask any problems there.

I personally love making Discord Bots using Discord.PY Library but you might enjoy something else. Set a goal, aim for something, and then do it. Ask along the way, read docs and ask people. Someone is gonna help you at some point. If you want to make an app you can do it. Just prepare that not everything is gonna work at first try.
