I believe this "ratings = reputation" system is stupid. montyburly nara~kavi and a few others, feel free to reject this but I can assure you that just because a higher rating person deals with a lower rating person, doesn't mean that the higher rating won't scam if the lower goes first. Its just stupid

The concern about posting "Vouch" with little to no detail is a post farm concern. Here is my suggestion:

MCM needs to enforce a strict and detailed review system of a 0 - 5 star rating with the following categories:
- Quality
- Speed
- Professional Appearance

And include the final work such as an "artwork" in the vouch at the bottom. Each category should be rated 0 - 5 with a minimum of 5 sentences describing how that seller or service provider is graded on that.

If not artwork and instead is a plugin config or jar, simply post an several images of the plugin working to your liking with imgur or something.

Yes this will be more time consuming, but its the safest way to make official review/vouch posts instead of sometimes random/paid "Vouch". Lets forget about the stupid "rating = reputation" because high rating people have scammed before, lets just get over that. MCM needs to manage its community as effectively as spigotMC and yes spigot does not allow most things to be sold on their forums like MCM does.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Way too much of a hassle imo
got a better idea to reduce the mass majority of scammers here? Both "high rep and low rep" ? Do feel free to suggest.

Nobody would vouch for us sellers... -1 I do believe a new system/idea should be inherited, but I don't think this is close to the answer. People would just never vouch anymore..

I like this idea because when I don't vouch for someone that has 'helped' me it's because I wasn't too happy with their services and if there was a system like you said

I can give a better review as to why I wasn't happy with their services which can be helpful to others.

The system is fine as it is. I'm sure if you actually looked into the statistics, lower-rep members have scammed way more than higher-rep ones. Yes, there's a change that a high-rep member can scam, but it's very unlikely. Lower-rep members have nothing to lose by scamming. They have no reputation and have not put any time into the site. They can scam, change their IP, and make a new account to scam again. It's not as simple with a high-rep member who has put hours and hours of time and money into this site. Also, even with a new vouch system a high-rep user can scam. It doesn't really solve much. A high-vouch user could scam too, a new system doesn't prevent that.

I think it would be cool to have the vouch rating back and have that displayed separately from other ratings here

but overall I think it's just fine the way it is.

Here is my solution to this issue:

Look at a person's posts on their profile. Usually there are vouches there from people who have worked with this person in the past. If not, or if you want to do more research, look through their post history, look through their previous sales threads, etc. Look at the way the person conducts themselves. Look at their posts, their ratings, their vouch ratings, etc. Take all of this into account before making a business transaction.

All of the tools are already there to determine whether or not someone is reputable and no system that is introduced will ever be better than just using these tools yourself. Every system or rule can be abused, and they will be.

In the end, people need to just stop being so lazy and should learn to go and decide for themselves whether or not someone is trustworthy.

If something needs to be done, then make a thread telling people how to do this and sticky it. I don't see what the issue is currently or why something else needs to be put into place.

what happens when its too late, and that "idiot" doesn't do their research and gets scammed. Are you saying they deserved to get scammed for not doing their "homework" ?

Yes, that's exactly what she's saying. If you're too lazy to take a look at a seller's history when you feel they may not be completely trustworthy then it's your own fault if you get scammed.

Yeah, they do. Most scams are preventable. If you don't do your research on the person that you are dealing with then you deserve to be scammed, it's as simple as that.

The idea of this is to limit as much scamming as possible. and preventing it before it happens. You want to let new members suffer while you prosper, idk what kind of sick mind do u have but if your view is right, most of the world would be bankurupt rn. Scamming would be a career. People would get away with it because they deserved to scam idiotic people who cant do their "homework"

What are you talking about? Are you really telling me that if a member who just joined today wanted to buy something from you and refused to go first, you'd just accept that and go second? That's a recipe for getting scammed. If you want to do that just to prove something about "equality" or whatever point you're trying to get across, then go ahead. You can buy from whoever you want however you want, and we can too.

I don't disagree there should be a thread stickied informing new members of the dangers of scamming and what steps to take to prevent being scammed.

In fact, I believe there should be a pop up when you are registering for this site that provides tips and information to new members to help them in determining who and who is not trustworthy on the site, and how to avoid being scammed.

However, I do genuinely believe that if someone does 0 research on the person they are doing a deal with, and they are scammed because of it, then they deserve to be scammed. This is simply pure naivety and it is the entire basis of the capitalist system that runs this website and the entire world. If you do not do your research, or put thought into your deals, then you will be taken advantage of.
