Hello folks,

As you have probably noticed, we’ve made a few changes around here. The purpose of this announcement is to inform you of those changes.

The resources systems has been updated.
The Resources section has changed slightly. We recently fixed up the issue prevents members from adding prices to their resources. Premium and Supreme members can now add prices to their resources again. In addition, resource authors may now add terms and conditions that a member must accept when purchasing their resource.

We’ve added a TeamSpeak integration.
You may or may not have noticed this one. We have a brand new TeamSpeak server that is now integrated with MC-Market website. Members can now link their TeamSpeak identities to their MC-Market account to automatically be given access to the server. If you are an upgraded member, you’ll get access to the appropriate channels automatically as well.

New features added to conversations!
We all know you guys like new stuff. Who doesn’t like new stuff? This round, we’ve added a few features to conversations. We’ve even added a few things just for members who’ve upgraded to Premium and/or Supreme!

All members now have the ability to “Like” conversation messages. You can use this feature however you’d like with other members. You can use it in a group message to indicate you have seen the message or you can show appreciation for the message.

For Premium members, we’ve added these perks:
  • The ability to set an auto-response message during a set time period; and
  • The ability to kick members from a conversation you started;
For Supreme members, we’ve added the perks listed above, as well as these perks:
  • The ability to set a prefix for your conversation;
  • The ability to create filters so that you don’t receive conversations you don’t want; and
  • The ability to create conversation participant groups.
Let us know what you think about these new awesome features that we’ve added to conversations. All in a day’s work!

Ratings are now reactions!
Ratings are going away. But don’t freak out! It’s not what you think. All that’s happening is they are being replacing with ‘reactions’. So, it’s going to be the same as before, just with a different name. That’s not so bad, right?

The reason behind this change is that this is exactly how we see the system. Those little icons on each post are ways that you can react to a post. It makes sense to say that you are reacting to a post and not necessarily rating it. When you press the “Funny” icon, you are reacting to the post, not rating it, right? Hence, the change to “reactions”.

With this change, we’ve added a “Disagree” reaction to the list. You should see this new icon everywhere you can react to a post.

Wiki is now a place for articles and tutorials!
We’re opening up the wiki! You read that right. We’re retiring the old “Member Tutorials” forum and moving tutorials and articles to the wiki. This is to allow other members to collaborate on these articles and tutorials and to provide valuable content and resources to our members.

Various articles and tutorials can be written in the wiki. As long as there is good quality content in the wiki, feel free to write about anything you think would be a valuable resource to other members on MC-Market.

Of course, we have established some rules relating to the wiki and it will be closely monitored. Wiki-related rules are listed in section 8 of the Community Guidelines.

Any member that has upgraded their account to Premium or Supreme may edit articles in the wiki. Only Supreme members may add an article to the wiki at this time. We may change this in the future.

Minecraft accounts are no longer allowed.
Most of you already know about this, but just to reiterate, we’ve recently updated the rules to disallow the sale of Minecraft accounts of any kind on MC-Market. This decision was reached based on the issues the sale of accounts has caused and the support from community members when we suggested it (http://www.mc-market.org/threads/81435/).

What this means is that you may not offer to buy, sell, trade, or giveaway a Minecraft account of any form on MC-Market. Doing so will result in punishment going forward. This became effective on March 2, 2016.

Just to clarify, we will not handle any scam reports concerning Minecraft accounts going forward.

Our team is always changing!
Since our last update, Coco, Doge and Jack have been promoted to Moderator and Myiume rejoined the team as a Resource Moderator. morganjp has also rejoined the team, but as a Chat Moderator.

Sadly, Ajdin decided to resign from the Administrator position. He will be missed. However, he’ll still be doing system administration work for us from time to time.

Just a few rule updates...
To accommodate some of the changes, we've modified the rules accordingly. We took the opportunity to update some existing rules as well.

The most important rule change to make note of are that advertising is no longer allowed in the chatbox. The chatbox may only be used for live conversation with other members, not for advertising your product or service. That should be done via a thread in the forums. Also noteworthy are the wiki rules, which will be modified as needed.

I think that about sums up all the changes up until today. If you have any questions about any of these changes, feel free to ask them in a reply to this thread and I will answer them as soon as I can.

That's all for now.

lol. This site just keeps getting worse and worse with every update because of moronic changes like these. I don't understand what is wrong with the people running this website. Why can't you just leave things alone? Why do you have to constantly ruin and change everything and drive people away? It is like you are intentionally sabotaging this website as part of some sort of conspiracy. I don't understand how else these changes could get pushed through.

Why? Who wanted this shit? What member suggested changing the name of ratings to "reactions" and adding disagrees that are just going to be abused to high-hell, as they already are in this thread? Why in the name of fuck would you do this? I don't understand. Please provide some logic or justification for your actions because, rocket, frankly I think this is one of the most retarded and incompetent decisions I have ever seen somebody running a website make.

Just leave the goddamn system alone rocket. What is wrong with you? Why do you feel the need to change shit just to change shit? There's nothing wrong with the current system and you and other staff's consistent attempts to demolish the rating system on this website has been met with nothing but hostility. Just revert these stupid changes and put it back to the way it was.

I don't understand at all.

This is also retarded, but I've had my say on that already.

Why? Jesus Christ. These decisions and changes you make are like the decisions a monkey would make if he was in charge of running a website. This is a fucking marketplace website, what is wrong with people advertising in the chat of a goddamn marketplace? This isn't a social gathering and people paid $10+ to be able to post in that shoutbox with their advertisements. Now the shoutbox is completely useless other than for inane, pointless conversations that you can literally see at any moment when you take a picture of the shoutbox. Why was advertising removed? What justification do you possibly have for this? What negative impact was it seriously having in the shoutbox? And how are you going to define advertising? Hell, some people have the name of their brand as their usernames on the forum, so technically speaking simply *talking* in the shoutbox for those people is an advertisement. Are you just going to ban them too? Should I make my name on the board "WeSellHomeworkServicesClickHere" to get around it?

This site is a big fat joke. I never thought that I'd miss Verringer but literally almost every single change Mick has made to this site has been for the worse. I don't understand why staff can't just leave shit alone and let the site run the way it has been functioning since its conception rather than randomly and arbitrarily changing shit just for the sake of changing it.

I have zero desire to continue participating in this site in a social capacity and unless these changes are revoked you can consider this my swan song outside of business-related matters. So good work, staff, you've succeeded in driving away yet another extremely active member of this board who used to love coming here and having fun.

Please do not remove shoutbox advertising. That's so pointless and annoying. This is a marketplace website, you should be focusing on its marketplace features. Shoutbox was a perk for supremes and premiums to advertise their services at the top of the website. Why are you taking that away from us? There was never a real problem with "spam" advertisements in there, and if there ever is/was you can deal with those people individually. The shoutbox has helped us tremendously with advertising. I can't believe you're removing it on a whim. The poll in the suggestion thread regarding it was heavily skewed because of the confusing wording, so those votes cannot possibly represent what the general majority of users feel about the subject. Plus, people without access to shoutbox were able to vote as well.
tbqyqm.png

The poll should read "Should advertising in chat be allowed." I voted wrongly in this poll at first because of the wording and I'm sure so many people did too and never noticed their mistake. There's no way you should just remove a huge feature, and pretty much the biggest and only useful feature of shoutbox due to this one thread where many people argued against it.

This site needs to stop driving away from professionalism and its marketplace ideals and start driving toward them (which is what I thought staff was trying to do after they reorganized the forum sections). Why are you going back on that now?

Regarding the ratings change, what is the point? I guess it doesn't really matter that the name is changed and doesn't really affect me but the word "reaction" sounds way more childish and unprofessional than the word "rating." When I rate posts, yes, I am rating them, not reacting to them. You react to everything you see on a daily basis, that doesn't mean you should rename every emotion you ever have to a "reaction." Again, this is a marketplace forum, not the Fine Bros' YouTube channel. I won't protest that as much as I protest the removal of shoutbox advertisements because unlike that, the name change doesn't directly affect me. I just think it was another move that brings this site closer to failing.

The disagree rating should be removed. You can already see it being abused heavily in this thread and that abuse will undoubtedly move to every thread on this site. People will give disagrees to any post made by a person they hate. If you thought funny ratings were being badly abused, this will top that 3 times over. The people of this site are definitely not mature enough to handle negative ratings, and that point is already proven within this thread. Also, again, this is a marketplace, not a site where you can voice your opinion on a debate. There should be no reason to 'disagree' with someone on a marketplace. I could only see how it could ever be useful in the suggestion section, but even then it will surely be abused.

At this point, they are just reactions. Nothing that really matter.

They are ratings. You can't just arbitrarily start calling them reactions and pretend like they don't matter at all. They do matter for a lot of people and a lot of people have spent a lot of work building their ratings up on this website. Your system would just lead to this rating system being completely destroyed by people abusing the disagree rating. Please, tjrgg, I know you aren't a retard, so please reconsider these stupid changes you made.

I like quite a few things about this update, but here is what needs to be changed back in my opinion:
  • Ratings VS. Reactions (Make it ratings again.) The reasoning for this is because it is really annoying that you just change Ratings to Reactions for no reason - they are basically the same thing with a different name. Ratings also sounds much better imo.
  • Disagree - When you disagree with someone their "reaction" points go up? I'd rather remove the "reaction" points - and make Disagree a neutral rating that people can give.
  • Also, if we keep it this way disagree will be abused. A lot.

So in the end, what I think MCM should look like is how it is now, except with Ratings instead of "Reactions" and a neutral or no disagree rating.

You guys take "reactions" way too seriously, which is why the disagree reaction was added. Sure, it may get abused to hell and back, but at the end of the day, why does that matter? The whole point of the system is for you to easily add a reaction to a post. The number of reactions you get and what reactions you get should not matter at all and we don't want them to matter. If something as simple as a reaction on a damn Minecraft marketplace forum matters to you that much, you've got other issues, in my opinion.

I personally think the disagree rating, oh sorry, disagree 'reaction' was a terrible move.

We're a marketplace forum, you'll see competitors asking friends to 'disagree' with a sales thread. You'll see a bunch of kids having 'disagree' wars just to make the other person look bad. Then you'll see a bunch of kids reporting eachother for abusing the reactions.

In my opinion the rating system shouldn't be touched at all. Any change you make on it will have a really big impact on how they see it, and if anything, they see the 'reaction' system more as reputation now as they're able to 'neg rep' someone.
Reactions are taken way too seriously. There are a lot of other things people could be worried about. Reactions should not be one of them. Yes, people see the system as a reputation system, but they should not, and it's up to us to find ways to change people's perception of that. This is a bold move, but at the end of the day, how or why someone reacted to a post really doesn't matter. Or rather, it shouldn't matter.

this actually sucks lol, ratings were way better without the disagree feature.
I'm sorry you don't like the new reaction, but why does it matter? It's really not that big of a deal, at the end of the day.
e911423.png

You can see the community loves the update.
I'm not using the reactions as a way to judge what people think. There are some people that are using that reaction because it's there and they can now. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter.

Which is why we should get rid of the disagree rating.
Again, taking reactions way too seriously. Is there seriously nothing else going on that you care about? All the fuss about a reaction?
Yeah could do that but why? So we can go back to normal ratings and eventually try another "rep" system and once again the community will dislike it and be changed back.

I'd prefer to stick with this and maybe just have fixes or edits to it until people feel it is working. Not giving up instantly and going back to the old.
Amen to that!

Why do we have to have these frequent changes anyway? A lot of the things in this update are actually good, but these updates are far too frequent in my opinion. MCM is fine the way it is without weekly updates.

Also, if you are going to make significant changes like this, please think them through before doing so... this seems like a rushed and improvised solution, just like the "Review" system that was added recently and then reverted.
These things were changed over time. We actually only made a few changes last night.

You're getting tons of disagree's lol.
Yep, I know. Doesn't really matter to me all that much, because I don't care all that much about something as simple as a reaction to a post on a Minecraft marketplace forum.

They are ratings. You can't just arbitrarily start calling them reactions and pretend like they don't matter at all. Your system would just lead to this rating system being completely destroyed by people abusing the disagree rating. Please, tjrgg, I know you aren't a retard, so please reconsider these stupid changes you made.
This is exactly what I mean. Why the fuss about stupid reactions on a forum post? We certainly aren't going to please everyone and we aren't here to please everyone. I mean, it was basically a simple word change and everyone is up and arms about it. I say we've got a lot bigger problems than something as simple as people not liking "reactions", if people really care that deeply about their precious ratings/reactions.
I like quite a few things about this update, but here is what needs to be changed back in my opinion:

So in the end, what I think MCM should look like is how it is now, except with Ratings instead of "Reactions" and a neutral or no disagree rating.
Every single reaction is meaningless. They are neither positive nor negative. They are just a reaction and mean nothing. You simply have a count that shows how many reactions people have made on your posts. It's sad to see that so many people care about some number that means absolutely nothing.

If you take a look at your post you've got 60 Disagrees and rising quickly, literally everywhere everyone is disagreeing cause they think its funny. Might want to reconsider this update; its getting a lot of hate, and rightfully so.
The problem is that people care way too much about reactions and their precious rating counts when they mean nothing. They were never suppose to mean nothing. This may be a bold move to make them mean nothing, but it's a move we took in order to show people that they shouldn't give a rats ass about a reaction left on their post.

We've got issues? >_>

The system was working perfectly then you changed it and everyone hates it, how are you blaming us?
The system wasn't working as we intended. We don't want the forum to run in a way where "ratings" matter. This may have been a bold move to make that point, but I believe that in time, people will start to care less and less about the reaction count.

At this point, this update comes down to people not liking change and caring too much. It's disappointing, but at the end of the day, we have a vision for how MC-Market should run in the future and a community that bases reputation off of ratings/reactions is not exactly what we have in mind.

This in itself proves that this "Disagree" thing will be abused as it already has been all over MCM. I'm willing to give this "Reactions" thing a try but "Disagree" seems doomed to fail.

However, I still don't think reactions are superior to ratings. I still don't get why you thought it necessary to switch.

Reactions will still be used to judge reputation and popularity, so you've accomplished nothing with this new system in my opinion.

This also goes to show that people care too deeply. It doesn't matter how many reactions you have. Personally, I could care less if a user has 1 reaction or 1,000. They are literally meaningless.[DOUBLEPOST=1457895291,1457895191][/DOUBLEPOST]

I didn't say they were superior. We changed them for that exact reason, actually. We don't want them to be superior at all. Ideally, people wouldn't give a rats ass about reactions to their post and would only laugh at the number of reactions they have. But...this isn't an ideal world, so we'll see...

I like the new changes, most of them have been in place for a bit, but it's always good to keep everyone updated! But I'm not exactly a fan of the "Reactions". I understand that many people were told to think of ratings as a reputation system, but changing the name probably won't do much?

I should probably make a suggestion thread instead.. but right now and before, the ratings or "reactions" are right under our message count on our posts, I believe that's the main reason people think of it as reputation. I honestly find it useless, unless you judge people on their ratings or "reactions", which people tended to do. Removing it would not only stop users from making accusations like that, it will make them be considered as only ratings. Not reputation, not vouches. Just ratings. Perhaps they could be replaced by something more meaningful, like vouches.

Though I guess we could test out the new system, it's just implemented which could explain the disagree sprees, hopefully it will die down. I haven't seen disagree ratings work on most forums, however if you guys do plan to keep it as just a rating, a neutral one, and have staff moderate ratings to prevent abuse, it may work out. I'm just a member, so I'll have high hopes and keep my fingers crossed that it all works out!

Great...Another flamefest just like every other update thread.

Please stop calling them reactions. You can't just randomly one day change the name of something that has been called ratings since day one of this forum and that is called ratings on literally almost every other board out there. You are attempting to discredit ratings because of your personal vendetta against them but you've yet to give a genuine reason as to why ratings are bad. I have debated people about this several times on this website and thus far nobody has given anywhere near a convincing argument as to why the current rating system should be altered or removed. People consistently bring up the fact that "ratings shouldn't matter" but they do matter, because people like to have a reward system and having ratings encourages quality posting. People work hard to *earn* ratings, and this creates a positive atmosphere on the website where people want to post more in order to increase their rating count. Encouraging posting, and specifically QUALITY posting, is a good thing, and this system really does do that. If people feel like all of the ratings that they have worked hard to obtain on this forum over the course of a year+ are being subjected to a random and arbitrary removal based on the whims of some random moderator who apparently now runs the website they will get pissed off and leave. How many quality members have you guys already driven away over the past few months? DarkOne, Super, Style, bigbubba, and more. How many more quality members do you want to continue driving away based on your stupid and useless alterations to a system that DOES already work?

Please, explain to me your reasoning for ruining a system that people obviously do care about. Just because *you* personally don't give a shit about it doesn't mean that nobody else does, and honestly speaking the system does far more good than bad. Generally speaking, people with over 1000 ratings do not scam and there is statistical evidence of this.

If ratings are something that people should not be worried about, then why did you change them?

Just leave it alone Rocket. Jesus Christ.

And you totally ignored my points about the advertising part of your changes.

This also goes to show that people care too deeply. It doesn't matter how many reactions you have. Personally, I could care less if a user has 1 reaction or 1,000. They are literally meaningless.
lol but before the switch i was proud of the amount of likes (not ratings) that i had and now my profile shows zero likes.
