Exactly... I paid for my rank to get rid of the ads and now they're more frequent than ever.

If you want exposure than buy an ad on the top, bottom, or side of the website. Gtfo of the chat box, especially if you're using text that's got emojis and is just annoying to look at
I think the chatbox would be pretty much empty without ads. Ads are there to help people to exposure their buissines, products or services. With that said there is a timeframe for ads of 20 mins, so you should have no problem starting a conversation with someone if you want. I get it's annoying, but in my opinion I would leave it be.
There's literally a whole website to use to advertise your service, the chatbox should be the one place where users on this website shouldn't have to be raped with businesses advertising their product or people just straight up spamming the chat with annoying texts. It's literally called a "Chatbox". Yet no one is really able to have a nice chat in there. If you think it should be left alone then I suggest renaming it to the "AdBox"
I don't totally disagree, but like I said I think the chat box would be pretty much empty without ads. People are now barely start conversations in chatbox and it's not because of ads.
Edit: Plenty of users come in chat just because of ads, trust me.

I personally don't have an issue with it, I get to find out about threads and resources that I might have missed. But there's something else that I would like to add here, it's not that the chat is full of ads, that was ALWAYS a thing, It's just more noticeable now because no one actually talks there.
So the ads aren't preventing people from talking, the people that don't talk make the ads look like they are flooding the chat.

Chatbox is 1 of the free ways of advertising and it seems like you've seen it at the wrong time. When Users aren't active there's only ads but mostly there's a bit of chat flowing.

The Chatbox was fine before XF2 but now for some reason I think its dead as most of the active users stopped chatting and that's why there's only ads flowing all day.
