So by now, just about every active forum member knows that someone at Mojang has been going through threads and locking OGs.

But what I wanted to inform everyone of, because I assume most don't know, is that even if you didn't sell your account here, you still aren't safe.

See, you'd think: Mojang is checking IP/email changes to verify that these accounts are ACTUALLY sold, and thus in violation of their ToS, right? WRONG!

What they are actually doing is just quickly scrolling and locking based on THREAD TITLES. Obviously, there is a UUID system. UUIDs are permanently bound to accounts, but not usernames.

Let's say someone sells an account. The buyer later changes the name. Someone then claims that name onto a different account. That last account was never sold and thus never violated Mojang's ToS. Mojang could easily confirm this by looking at IP/email changes, but nope! They're just locking everything with no proof.

Fun sidenote: If a staff member wanted to, they could get any account in the game locked by making a thread with an edited title of any username. (Though I don't think any would. I am stating this to show how terrible this is)

By now I've heard of this happening to numerous people and it really sucks, since they didn't break the ToS and got their accounts locked with 0 proof.

Below is an image of the Lock Wave that's happening:

MojangLock.png

Also, staff removing threads upon request of sold accounts that are no longer owned by the OP has stopped all of a sudden because of many requests. (It was always done in the past) Imagine if a lot of fires were starting so firefighters just stopped doing their jobs suddenly! I also find it funny how some of the staff members don't give a shit about their own community. (not all) "hehe you shouldn't have violated Mojang's ToS!!!" - knock off that bullshit and at least have sympathy for your own users. You see this shit being said and realize, it's no wonder there's so much enmity for these people.

The safe way to go is to temporarily make the OG sections only accessible to premium users, possibly only those who bought it as of today or before. But honestly, as with everything else on this site, I don't expect it to be done in a timely manner.

Anyway, let's get some discussion going! Thoughts?

Second.

Honestly, seeing the responses/reactions of some staff & even regular members to this whole lock wave thing disgusts me. Like, how could some people not even have the littlest bit of pity.

For example, I saw a user post something along the lines of this in Shout Box earlier this morning:

"First people don't want the account section to be closed down, now they do. This is what account sellers get lol. After all, they didn't follow the game they love so much's TOS, so this is what they deserve."

The person in question, however, was breaking multiple other sites' TOS, such as Paypal. They also weren't involved at all in the account section either.

The hypocrisy for most of these users are through the roof and I'd honesty love to see how they'd react if, for example, their paypal was terminated for selling/buying BTC and they lost around $500 - which a lot of users have whenever their account(s) were locked.

Hopefully these waves stop or some sort of system is implicated while the waves are happening to stop this nonsense.

I saw this in chat myself, what a RIDICULOUS and factually incorrect thing to say.

The big difference is, item 1 is PERMANENTLY REMOVING their sales, item 2 is TEMPORARILY hiding the section so a way can be made to safely sell accounts. They are different ENTIRELY.

And yeah, I'd love to see their reactions if all their PayPal accounts got permanently limited for using FnF instead of G/S or exchanging currencies. Or imagine if they got banned from Amazon for selling Amazon giftcards. These people don't give a shit about ToS's or morals, they just hate MC account sellers specifically for some reason.

I’ve contacted the two users who handled my thread deletions, roy and Energy. Both seem to be cool guys. Apparently all thread deletion up until recently has just been oversights made by the staff team and the rule was always in place.. not caused by a sudden influx of requests. Crazy coincidence I suppose with the timing of the lockwaves.

Honestly, at this point, I believe that maybe us resellers SHOULD just let mcm take down the og selling sections. It seems as if they really don’t care about us as much as they used to. I feel like everything the og selling sections are doing could be more focused/efficient if they were just discord servers ran by people who have been doing this hobby for literally years. The whole “this will RUIN mcm” arguement I’ve always seen somewhat weird because of most of the actual high dollar deals happening offsite in the first place.

Mojang really needs to get their shit together and stop false locking as well as generally make their support team more professional. As for MCM, I believe that instead of doing nothing with the sections like they are right now, a descision has to be made as to weather or not they want to get rid of them.

Oh yea I forgot you were there..

Well, I, along with multiple others, have posted suggestions that are capable of stopping the lock wave. If @/Mick implemented a little bit of each suggestion, I can say with 100% confidence that the locking waves will be prevented in the future. Too bad that (most likely) the things we need will be ignored until we all either lose our accounts, Mojang stops, or we all don't care anymore.

Isn't Mojang support like backlogged a few months? Why are they doing this right now and not support cases?

Cause it's a bigger issue to them, apparently. If they get rid of account selling & stuff, the backlog would go down because I can confidently say that at least 30-50% of the backlog is from users being scammed on MCM or a competitor site.

Maybe if they had like a live chat instead of email this shit would get done quicker.

Possibly, but I tend to disagree. Why would they sit down & just focus on a live-chat when they could email and ask multiple users what their issue is & go through a list?

Plus I mean, there still would be a backlog.

Because issues would be resolved on the spot and there would be no point to go back in forth over a week.

But wouldn't it be less effective than just emailing multiple people, checking back every day, getting more people, etc.

Not the place to argue about this anyways.

Like imagine if your bank account got locked and to unlock it you had to contact support which was responding to cases from June and it was November LOL

Legit the worst support system I have seen in my entire life.[DOUBLEPOST=1573963543][/DOUBLEPOST]I'm not arguing just making fun of Mojang.

I like how the website is literally called MC MARKET and has a designated section on the homescreen for everyone to see entitled OG ACCOUNTS SELL YOUR OG HERE and then they say "wOW, you shouldn't have posted here why would you do such a thing, it's not like we marketed it and pushed it out there you know"

In reality, hopefully MCM locks their account selling sections since thousands of dollars are essentially being lost over weeks.
