Hi,


A few weeks ago I got my PayPal limited. It's asking me for a valid photo ID in order to get everything resolved. The options it's giving me are, Passport, Driving Licence or Identity Card. Due to the fact I'm under the age of 18, I don't have any of these and you aren't actually meant to have a PayPal until you're older. What can I do to resolve this?

It's asking for those three things of me, it doesn't say anything about having a family member to confirm identity. If they find out I'm under age, they'll lock my paypal all together.

If you give them a family member's identity you can basically say the PayPal is theirs and not yours. That's the only way you can verify it as you're underage.

But it's in my name, not my parents.

Wouldn't work has to be the same name as the license.


Depending on how much is on their get a fake license or a fake picture of one make sure it looks legit af tho

I'm not sure if they can check driving license or something like that.

you could try to make a new account if you're in need. if you already have a good amount of paypal wallet balance, there's nothing that I know of that'll help unless you have a family member use their information ;/

I have over $200 in it.

This is perhaps why you should not use PayPal until you're 18, or use your parents' PayPal.

If you tell them you're underage, they will freeze your account. You can then ask your parents to continue the conversation with PayPal. If they provide their ID and proof they are your parent. PayPal will release funds to your parents' bank account in 6 months from the most recent transaction.

They don't from what I know it's happened to me I had hella bank in it so I bought a fake license and used it, I have a legal drivers license but I'm under the legal age so yea

Driving licenses are easier to validate than passports, looking up against a database. Usually, the legal driving age is higher for a full driving license. It's lower in Europe, but often it's American teams validating data. What probably happens with a valid full driving license is PayPal see it's valid and automatically assume you're over 18, rather than bothering to look further into your DOB. It was an oversight at best.

PayPal have access to central and private databases to verify IDs using their numbers. PayPal, in Europe, does not rely on how authentic a document looks. It actually validates it, to comply with EU directives on money laundering. In the US and any non-EU member state, PayPal does not typically look up IDs against a central database.

Under no circumstances should you attempt to create a fake ID and give it to PayPal. I'm not just saying that because it's fraud, but because it is illegal and can cause permanent damage. You will absolutely regret it in the future.

I just messaged them from my dads account saying that it was limited and needed id and it was in his name instead of my son's and asking what should I do. I said he managed the account and he had access to use it. Hopefully they'll get back to me soon.

I had this problem, tried to pin the account on my parents credentials and provided paypal with my parents identification (with permission),

Paypal denied the proof i provided and my account was terminated with over 600$ available, i was able to withdraw the money after 8 months or so.
