What server sites are you using to list?
Don't do this. Discord advertisements are a waste. Only about 5% of those joins get converted to players/active members and that is being generous

My survival server has 40 plugins, with 30+ custom /jobs, hundreds of Brewery recipes and deluxmenus, and custom clickable tokens I wrote myself, a warehouse build sale feature I've never found on another survival server, to mention a few - I've had compliments on being unique. I did have a really easy time keeping 20-30 players my first few weeks I released to public year before last without ads, listed on vote sites as a new server. I think my deficiencies might be in other areas? Or I'm in denial XD It's hard to be totally unique without entering niche territory and running into the same issues.
I've considered this, and may still. I keep hearing the same thing though, that the returns might not be worth it?

it depends what ads you buy. If you buy from a only themed giveaway discord, yes only like 5% will join but if you buy for a themed Minecraft discord, more will join.
Youtubers is also a big shout at times, depending on how big they are.

Ty for checking us out!It all comes down to making an experience that both casual and non casual players can enjoy. Spending a lot of money on advertisement will be much more beneficial if you're server is addicting and enjoyable. I just hopped on your server and it looks pretty cool! I just was a little bit confused at first, maybe add a /tutorial plugin?
I hadn't considered a tutorial plugin, I will check some out. Ty for the suggestion!
Can you provide any specifics you thought were confusing? What are some features I might be missing that you see on other servers that you're not confused on when you first join besides perhaps (I'm assuming by a couple vids I just pulled up - a guided/auto) tutorial plugin?
if you want to grow your server you need to be more buy advertisements from youtubers. that's the kind of thing that brings traction to your server
That's interesting..because you told me not long ago to look into discord ads as apart of your "marketing" service in that google doc template you sent me
Sounds a bit hypocritical.
To OP tho, Discord ads really are useless, I just wanted to point out the hypocrisy since Swept ditched a marketing service he was apart of(Honey Pot) and left the admin/owner high and dry. So I really wouldn't listen to much he has to say
