Hello Users,

I am asking a quick question via poll which is basically, do you feel a user should post proof when selling an account?

Thanks!

POLL IS CLOSED. WINNING VOTE IS - EVERYONE SHOULD POST PROOF.

Sorry for not fitting this into the poll, but;
Some users, like me, prefer not to show screenshots as it either
1) Reveals the account's name (which some people like hidden).
2) Is quite time-consuming.
Usually, if a user wants proof, I occasionally log on to mineplex and do the "MCM - (name)" thing, however what I do most often is just join a server with the potential buyer.
I'm sure lots of people will agree with me.

Basically, it shouldn't be mandatory, but if users are pushed by staff and/or other users then I think that is a good time to post proof to the thread.

If there was a credible vouching system in place we could use that to determine whether or no they need proof but unfortunately there isn't so everyone should post proof

See, I'm not sure what I'd be for is supported in the poll.

To me, I think there's no reason to have people post proof if they are worried about Mojang catching them. That's basically like a community where everyone has restaurants and they'd prefer not to show the way they make food, but the city makes them cook in front of everyone regardless.

The main solution I can think of is just this kind of a start:

Seller:
- Selling items (no proof given)

Randy person not wanting to buy:
- omfg kid provide proof get on Mineplex Lobby-1 you scammer (THIS SHOULD BE REMOVED AND WARNED)

Buyer:
- Hi, I'm interested in purchasing your items. Would you mind to add proof to your thread, or could I PM you on MCM or Skype?

Seller:
- Hi buyer, I'd be glad to provide you with private proof! If you don't mind, please PM me at user1 or on Skype at buyer.mcm

So the buyer wouldn't have to give proof up to start, but would be required to (and get this) COMPLY with BUYERS if they wanted proof. So basically is they refuse to give a buyer proof it's a warning point and their thread gets locked and deleted.

I'd love to hear some sort of reasoning..
I meant showing proof on the thread like u can show them proof if they ask in a pm or log into a server

I mean, it's obviously needed to have proof when purchasing an account, but, if you are selling an account, it isn't always necessary to show proof there. I mean, if there is a significantly interested buyer, I'd PM with proof. Although I voted yes, it isn't the best idea. The reason I did vote for the everyone should option is because, although time consuming, you could easily photoshop out parts of the name, correlating with the clues you've set up on the site.

I don't think this poll thing will exactly work if you allow multiple votes for each user...

It shouldn't be mandatory because gathering real proof is annoying and time-consuming. Nara and I are trustworthy sellers and have never scammed anyone. People trust us and buy our accounts without proof, and they go first in the deals. This is the case with most reputable sellers. If we had to provide proof for all our accounts and log into a server like Mineplex 30 times and take screenshots of us saying "Hi MCM" that would probably take us an hour at minimum. For shops even larger than ours I can't imagine how long that'd take them. I say this because logging into a server with the account for sale is the only way you can actually prove ownership of an account. All other ways can be easily faked. In fact, it would be easier and quicker for us to fake proof of our 30 accounts rather than actually get true proof.

Also I'm sure many people wouldn't even bother looking at proof of ownership on reputable shops. If I was going to buy something from someone like OGMaster and he had an Imgur album of 100 pictures of proof I wouldn't even bother looking because I know he's a trusted seller and doesn't scam.

Question should be - why shouldn't they? yes it may take some time, but really, it benefits the user more as someone will be more interested in buying it.
