Shows basically what my suggestion is.

Its just a better way for sending private messages.
Apparently theres a plugin called Cometchat that could be a thing here.

There is no need to add in another way to communicate with users on the site, we already have conversations, the shoutbox, and you can use Discord or another messaging application. Ultimately at the end of the day there's no way that MCM could make a system for chatting that would be as good as Discord, and unless we're sure it's actually going to be useful for something that our current systems don't already accomplish.
