Shows basically what my suggestion is.

Its just a better way for sending private messages.
Apparently theres a plugin called Cometchat that could be a thing here.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

I completely agree with this, it would make it all much easier imo.

MC-Market added 'instant' PMs but I noticed it stopped working a while ago. Not sure if it's not me or what (and yes I have it selected in my settings)

Nothing annoys me more than little popup chat boxes at the bottom righthand corner of a website.
Every site that has it, I can't stand. It's so cliché and unnecessary, giving the feeling of a dating platform to chat up your 40 friends whose names you can't remember, rather than a place of business, where the content of messages have weight and significance.

I'm certain there's likely to be some performance issues involved with implementing this, however, simply for the atmosphere these chatty boxes bring, I'd really rather keep it to the inbox.

My concern is never just about me.
When I say it changes the atmosphere of our site, I mean for everyone who could consider registering and using it.
You could make it off by default and the people who want it you turn it on in settings.

Could perhaps set as disabled as default.
I had just idea when i was 'chatting' in real time with a possible client and had to hit uncontable times the refrsh button to see what was happening. Then receive some random alerts and confusing myself. It's just something mant to make it simpler.
I'm sure we can make improvements to our current private conversations system without slapping on a right-hand corner chatting overlay.
Improvements to the current conversation system, I'm all in for.

So whats wrong with using the whisper command in public chat? This is a cool idea imo but what makes this different from /whisper?

Whispers can get hard to manage especially when the chatbox is flowing. Also, every time you’d like to whisper you need to click on the persons’ name and then whisper. It would be more convenient to have a separate chat box that someone could use.

Just add a disable feature and everyone is happy. I don’t see why not. Try it out for a week and see how it goes Mick.

I can see these chats turning into non pg areas.
Shoutbox whispers could too; PMs could too. Doesn't matter what form of communication, anything can.

I hate chat boxes like that. It's just.. ew.

Forums are fundamentally not made for live chatting like that. Websites with live chatting on the site suck in general. Hell, Facebook's chat integration sucks.

The existing chat solutions for XenForo suck. The design in the OP just doesn't look right, even though it's (generally) aesthetic.
