On a personally level I would never want whoever I’m dating to have an abortion. I’m not going to give up on my child before it’s even born and I’d be willing to take care of my kid by myself if the mother didn’t want to take any responsibility for herself.

On an overall level I simply stay out of it. It’s not my business to get involved in other peoples lives and try to act like I know what’s best for them and their situation. Idealistically I would like abortion to be illegal with a few exceptions (rape being a prime example).

I find it really mind boggling that people find it “ignorant” to value human life. It takes two to make a baby, a woman and a man. Saying men/dads can’t have a say in abortion is ridiculous. On top of that, saying abortion should be legal because of “health related issues” is a blatant excuse for legalization. It’s 2019 and giving birth has never been safer, most women who go in for abortions simply don’t want to take accountability for their actions and raise a child.

Another lackluster reason people see for legalizing abortion is that when a teen gets pregnant she’s not capable both mentally and physically to raise a child. Maybe she should’ve taken responsibility for her actions and either had safer sex or simply not had sex at all. Maybe having a child will teach her a valuable life lesson. Also, these girls are capable of raising a child, it’s just harder than it would be under more normal circumstances. My mom had me when she was 17, and while I didn’t grow up having everything I wanted, everything still turned out okay.

At the end of the day, abortion is an issue dealing with responsibility. It’s really and I mean really not hard to have safe sex and not get a girl pregnant. If you’re dumb enough to have unprotected sex then you might deserve whatever fate entails.

So you're saying that only 1% of abortions are from rapes, even though that might be the case, you need to think about the 1% which could be a really young girl in which case, giving birth might kill her. This is the worst case scenario. It also could be an adult that gets raped, you want her to keep the baby, take care of him, feed him, pay him college? Let's say you have a wife, and she

Well, at least this thread is useful to show me which people to avoid. People talking about 'responsibility'. Responsibility for what? getting raped? A broken condom? Women don't just go around getting pregnant and aborting for fun. Those that DO have other issues than just legal abortion....
The whole "valuing human life" argument ignores the part where human life begins. Does it begin at conception? If so, morning-after pills are also murder. Does it begin at a heartbeat? it's hardly sentient at that point, let alone human.. I agree very late term abortions involve ending a human life. But recently there's people that think abortion at 6 weeks is already murder. Some people can't even reliably discover they're pregnant until that period is already over.

I hate this talk of responsibility. It makes the women look lazy, and makes it as if their DUTY is to carry children. Hello, overpopulation much? There's more to women than breeding machines. Considering the fact that getting pregnant is basically a career-ender for many women, spouting 'duty' is disgusting. And there's the part where people make light of the decision. I'll repeat my earlier point, women don't just look at the test's + and go "oh well, let's abort this kid shall we?". At least, none of the women in that situation I've talked to did. Many of them agonized over it, and a large portion decided not to go through with it unless they couldn't find a reasonable adoption option. Even in a nation where abortion is perfectly legal, a large portion of women will decide not to go through with an abortion, even from a guy that's already cheated on them and abandoned them.

However, the simple fact of the matter is that I believe the option should be available. Perhaps women in that situation should be offered psychiatric support for the decision. I wouldn't know if that'd help, I'm neither a pregnant woman nor a psychiatrist. But the option should exist.

Making abortion illegal will not stop abortions, it will just make it unsafe. Besides, let's say you got raped at 16 years of age. Would you really want a kid a) from a rapist father that you hate b) at that age? If the abortion is made within a certain time period, I do not see it as killing. Do you really remember anything from that time? I doubt it.

Abortion is a very difficult subject to debate because of the varying amounts of scenarios. Women who have been raped, for example, should be allowed an abortion.

The real argument lies in the population of women who (with consent and legally) have unprotected sex and get pregnant. In this case, abortion shouldn't be legal because the woman and the man were fully aware of the circumstances.

It's hard to make a single law that encompasses all of the circumstances involving pregnancies... but I guarantee you that banning abortion all-together isn't the solution.
