Hey, so I now go in college & I've chosen an iT college. I going to be starting programming next year & I want someone who can teach me mainly Java, something so that I can get the basics of programming.

Although we've already started on doing websites through HTML & CSS.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

TheNewBoston has crippled many "programmers" minds. He is not the guy to learn from. If you want to learn Java in the best way possible, I suggest you go to your local library and start reading some Java books, or even go to https://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/ to learn some there. (Oracle is the creators of Java)
Video manuals are much more easier to follow..

They may be much easier to follow, but books are the best way to learn Java by far. Mat and many other developers would agree.
Well I am sorry you need to use other people to boost your self esteem, haha.

Hey, I'd agree that TheNewBoston is not the best place to learn good programming practices, even if they are good at teaching the language. It really would be better to try a book. If not, interactive sites like Codecademy offer Java tutorials, although only the basics - which is what you need first. You must fully understand things like variables, basic operators, syntax, formatting, conditionals, loops, etc. before trying to grasp the concepts of Classes and Objects. Knowing these concepts will enable you to learn additional languages much easier. Taking it slow and making sure you understand everything will only strengthen your skills in the long run. It wouldn't hurt to learn about the JDK, JRE, memory, and the basics of how a high level language communicates with the machine's hardware, so you are fully aware of what happens when you execute a program. Feel free to PM me if you have questions while learning. Good luck!

I could maybe help you out. Sounds like you're on a very similar course to me with the only difference being that I'm on my second year.
