Hello. Before going on a rant, here's why I'm suggesting we re-allow account sales.

  1. Obviously, the OG market is still alive. Most people are still doing account deals through skype, and it would continue the exchange of account on here.
  2. It's possible to put a large yellow banner (similar to investments) stating there is a risk of the account being locked by Mojang, that the sale of accounts violates the TOS, and that the products are not guaranteed.
  3. Allow the sale of regular accounts (migrated): I myself have many alt accounts, that I normally sell outside of MCM, and it would be nice to have a section for those. This section could even say that scam reports are not allowed.

I fully agree, this would return some popularity tO MCM

No way! Now that Mojang is locking everything that even has the slightest clue that is had been sold, restarting the OG Market would be stupid.
Buying and selling accounts (in most cases) has always been against the rules, as 99% of accounts sold were bought as unmigrateds, meaning they were cracked. You can't and never could sell things that you didn't own on MC-Market, and as the accounts were originally cracked, they are just as bad as leaking a plugin. You don't own the plugin. You don't own the account. It is against the rules.
Please, do not add account selling back.

Hence adding the "At your own risk" to the forum.

It was removed because there's simply no way to deal accounts safely as it always has a HUGE risk of being locked.

I'm expecting the next lock wave very soon.

As I said in my suggestion thread which addressed accounts, if you had any good and decent suggestion I'd listen to it.

Next to that it was quite obvious a majority was against the sale of accounts.

Ok look guys. Although the poll that decided whether accounts were going to be removed or kept around was completely unfair (People voted for accounts to leave when they had nothing to do with the accounts section). Accounts are being locked, if you sell an account there is a huge chance that the account will get locked. Just to clarify, Mojang has an automated system doing to locking. There are no waves of locks. There really is not point in selling accounts if they are going to be taken away.

What's the difference between selling an account and changing the email and just someone
Well I don't have an answer to that. I'll admit Mojang's locking system is very abnormal. It chooses random accounts to lock. I've had two accounts locked that I've never sold. I believe if you change all the account information rapidly it gets locked though,

I think it's pretty obvious why it's a bad idea to continue account sales. It's only going to wind up in more accounts locked. Whether or not you wish to think it'll happen to you is up to you I guess, but I wouldn't bother personally. I lost 5 OG's with a total of around $900 spent on them all. That's $900, completely gone. Think about it.

Honestly just do account sales privately, doing it on a public website like this where ANYBODY can see it is a bad idea. If you stick to it privately, it'd be harder for Mojang to catch. Just saying.

  1. Of course it is. Nobody ever said it died.
  2. But then what if Mojang decided to, I don't know, send a DMCA complaint to Mick requesting the takedown of the site for numerous EULA violations? This isn't just about the site's users - it's about the site itself.
  3. Still breaks the TOS/EULA. Still would be locked.
By just willingly facilitating the sale of accounts the site as a whole would go against Mojang's policies. As especially since they've gone to the trouble of hiring an "Enforcement Team", whom now work full-time to find and take down services which violate these policies, it just wouldn't be worth the risk.

I don't think you understand that MCM is also being watched by Mojang's support staff (one of them even recently publicly joined and announced it on his Twitter), and that account selling is very much against Mojang's ToS, which could lead MCM getting sued for perpetuating "blackhat" activities.
Marc is not support staff, he is realms content manager. He is also not the one locking accounts.

Considering Mick is in Australia, the DMCA does not apply.
