What's interesting is I've heard that quite a few people have had their names put on some maps. Whether it be by paying a fee to get your name on it or simply knowing somebody who is generous enough to put your name on it. The fact of the matter is, nobody called Marc a machine, I wasn't planning on buying an account with a cape (duh), and even if I had to pay a fee to get my name on a build, I'd be willing to do some work on the map. These maps don't appear to be that demanding to detail ( pretty sure there was a map with a few sky islands on it xD). Either way, I'm willing to bet it's possible. Hard? Yes. Expensive? Yes.

I'm not expecting you to read the entire thread, but some of us have decided to actually attempt to build and submit maps, like you suggested.

I'm aware of everything you mentioned and agree with it. The only part that concerns me is the part in bold. If we submit a map, genuinely built by us, it will have random names on it since none of us are known in the map-making community. We don't have any past content to back us up, nor do we have known builders to vouch for us. Honestly, I'm not even on Twitter (mentioning this because I think it's the primary method to contact Marc).

So I just wanna ask you, what exactly do you mean by that line in bold? What kind of proof or explanation could we offer that would be enough?

I can't speak for Marc, nor reveal his methods. I just know he is not oblivious. If you want to know what kind of background check he does on mapmakers, your best shot would to take your question to Reddit. I think working together to actually try to earn capes is a very wise choice.

As far as I know, those rumors are not substantiated. I can't know for sure, but I find then highly unlikely to be true.
Also, I did not imply that anyone here called Marc a machine. That was just an analogy. Marc manually reviews every map, which means you are not going to get the cape automatically or something.
And I probably shouldn't say it's entirely impossible, but that doesn't change the fact that it's not ethical to pay for a reward you have to earn. I would just put off the idea completely, because you are probably wasting your time/money. If you are paying to get your name on the map, and Marc finds out, he is not going to give you the cape anyway.

That's precisely what I'm doing! :)

Though I've never met him, I believe Marc to be a pretty fair person. If that's the case, I'm quite sure he'll consider our map despite the fact that we're not recognized in the mapmaking community.

I know that for sure.
