I think part of the reason Mojang employees who stalk the MC account sections are so confident in locking certain accounts for being sold on there is because the MC association system gives them conclusive proof that a user claiming to be selling an account is 100% attempting to sell that account.

If MC association were removed, then they know that someone claiming to be selling a certain name might not actually own it, and that account might not actually be being sold at all. Or, are they just going to lock every big name posted on here, and you can get the account locked of anyone who you don't like? I highly doubt it.

A con to this is that removing MC association would probably result in slightly more users being scammed, although I personally don't think that completely warrants keeping MC association. I'm not totally sure how great of an idea this is, so feel free to critique it. :)

Disagree, do you want people to get scammed?

I just find this kinda ironic cause you have practically all of your names associated to your account. lol

It's true that removing MC association may increase the number of careless users being scammed. But, they can just stop being so naive, and ask for proof of ownership.

Because I need to have them associated to post a thread for them. I would like for that to not be a thing, which is the entire point of this thread. :p

Simple, remove the assosciation, before a user is allowed to post a account to be sold. It must be verified by a staff member first.

You can still fake that
How? lol. Have the user join on a server with the account, request a gif of being logged in on mojang refreshing the page to confirm they're not editing it with inspect element. You can't really 'fake' that. Or MCM could keep mc association, but not require that you associate an account to post it. So, just associate it if someone asks you to confirm that you actually own it, then remove it.

they should have a server like BlockMania (NAMEMC) and you join the server and do /MCM and u get a link exactly like the NAMEMC method.
What would that solve?

You dont have to do the whole MC Association thing u just click a link and it recognizes ur ign check blockmania and you will see what I mean
You would have to login to the server. That doesn't solve the problem mentioned on the thread. It just makes it even more annoying to associate an account and helps absolutely nothing

But some people don’t care about the accounts section but want people to know they own a specific account.

Lets go back to the old times. You have to go to mineplex on the account and use that as proof

Since Mojang staff haven't actively been locking accounts for the past 6 months I'm sure you'll agree that we made the right decision by not rushing into a system that will purposefully result in more scamming to prevent locking, when accounts aren't even being locked.

Denied, thanks for the bold suggestion nonetheless. Looking back I'm pretty surprised that you managed to get that many agrees on a suggestion about removing verification of minecraft account sales, I guess locking must have been a pretty big deal back then.
