Remove Reputation

We all know what happened last time when this shit addon was added. So let's remove it. This will be abused so hard.

Basically, when the time we had reputation implemented into MCM various users would just go around giving people bad/good reputation just because of the history between them two or two others. So as in User1234 gives bad rep to User4321 just because User4321 gave him/her a funny rating on there GFX thread. Vice versa. People also would give bad reputation even if the person that they are writing didn't do anything wrong to them. So User1234 gives bad/good rep to User4321 when User4321 never did anything good/bad to User1234

I don't know what REP is?

Basically, REP is a implemented system that allows members of the MC-Market to right reviews about yourself as a buyer and seller. You can get good or bad reputation. Depending on your reputation you can either be viewed as a trustworthy member or a untrustworthy member to work/deal with.

So if someone's untrustworthy (low rep), why are they even on the site anyway? Technically that makes them a scammer, so shouldn't they just be banned?

I didn't really like it last time but I'm willing to give it another chance.

Frankly, the way it was last time was just a big circlejerk. I generally fail to see the use of the system since there's already multiple systems in place to determine whether or not someone is trustworthy. Registration date, post count, ratings, profile and thread vouches, post history, etc.

But it's not really a big deal. It doesn't hurt to give it a try.

Or, you know, they're new to the website, or are not a scammer but instead are unpleasant to deal with. That's not a valid reason to ban them.

"It was abused so hard" is not a valid reason for this suggestion, in my opinion. Give a better argument and maybe I'll consider agreeing with you.

How is "It doesn't work" (which is what "it was abused so hard" means) not a valid reason. If something not working isn't a valid reason for getting rid of it, I really don't know what is.

I know I personally won't ever look at this. Its just another way for people to base their business decisions on a load of bullshit instead of talking to the people and getting a feel for if they are getting scammed. I wonder how many scam reports will say "I went first because they had good rep"- I bet it will be a lot of them.[DOUBLEPOST=1467073668][/DOUBLEPOST]

In my opinion rep shouldn't just be about deals. It should be a place to give feedback/opinions about a member.

Example: Someone starts trashing your thread.

There should also be a limit on how many reps you can give a day.

That might be the single worst idea I've ever seen on this forum...And that's saying something. To do well on this site it's already so much about being fakely nice to people and never giving your opinion on something if its negative. If rep worked like that everyone would be almost forced into being a snake in the grass saying everything is great all the time and getting pummeled with negative reviews if they ever call someone out. I pissed someone off and they immediately went through and rated 15 random posts of mine funny. Reputation as you want it would be that funny rating becoming important to people.

If someone isn't willing to put thought and energy into their suggestions, then I don't bother wasting my time. More often then not, it's the suggestions that are well thought out that get accepted. This one is not well thought out at all. That was my point.

It is out. It's on your profile. And it's been out in the past. They are trying to re-add it.

It's not officially released as no announcement has been made.
