Removing Loans. Exit Scamming and more..

Hello MCM Community! Today we're going to talk about the concept
"Exit Scamming"!

I'm pretty sure we all know what exit scamming is by now, if you don't, I'll give a short brief example.
Exit scamming is something people do when they

A. Decide they want to leave MCM, so they scam people before they do.
Or B
B. Scam as many people as possible with them knowing they will get banned in the next week or so.

Anyway, the whole point of this thread is to show you people, ( Mick ) why the "Investments and Loans" Section should be removed, or why he should rename it to "Exit Scams & Scam Ideas".
Today, April 23th, I went out of my way, and I checked how easy it is to scam someone...

This is ALL it took.
1. Make a thread on the investments and Loans area.
2. Say that I need money for a website/to pay my dev
3. Post the thread and wait for replies.
4. Get replies, talk a bit bullsh*t, and give them my PayPal.

In about 10 minutes of me posting the thread, I've already received $50.
And more people willing to give me more money...

This just shows, how easy it is to exit scam, I'm not posting this for people to go out of their way to actually exit scam, try this, or whatever. This is just a suggestion to Mick to remove the dumb Investments and Loans section, because it's too easy of a way for people to get scammed.

I know, there are some legit people who actually do need loans, and do actually return money, but the odds of actually finding a legit person who does this, is 1/100...

I'm not saying people are too gullible, or stuff like that.
IF This suggestion on removing the "Investments and loans" thread area doesn't get removed. I want people to know this.
Just because someone has good rep, alot of vouches, or even supreme, you should still do more research into the person before sending him/her money, and never send a loan on F&F...

MC accounts ($100-300) stop working or get taken back. Lets remove the accounts section.
Builds ($80+) and plugins are often stolen (Dont own the rights to sell). Lets remove those sections too.
People scam full servers, worth $100's. Lets remove that too.

Lets just remove everything, and rename MC-Market to just MC.

Or lets not, and just leave things how they are.

It depends on who is loaning out the money, if I was to loan out a large sum of money I would ask for a screenshot of there license so that I have a way to contact them if they do.

The loans section has already been restricted to some degree.
Paypal does not support loans, sure, but that doesn't mean there's no way to stop yourself getting scammed.
Options to decrease being exit-scammed as a loan provider:
1. skip paypal, use bank accounts. This depends on the individual case, and on if you can use just the bank number to modify the account or not. Requires option 2 to work properly.
2. Make a legal contract, possibly using your real names (maybe look into if contracts with "nicknames" or "usernames" are in any way binding). Then if someone runs off with your money you can make an actual legal case of it. This depends on jurisdiction, however.
3. Get something of equal value that you hold on to. For example, if I were to ask a loan off someone, I would make them a random map or set of small builds to my choosing that can be reasonably expected to be sold for the value of the money I am loaned.
Then, if i fail to pay back, that person can get their money back by selling that map (I would give them permission beforehand under the condition that they could only do it if I didnt pay it back). Since I would likely be banned as well, my existing shop wouldn't be competition anymore either.

4. Get a persons real data. A physical address, for one. Possibly other methods, using things like what Mathew suggested. This may be awkward, but if you both exchange that data your chances of fucking each other over increase drastically.

Most of this forum is underaged.

Idk about you, but I don't think many users here got the time/resources for that.

I agree. Though this has its own limitations as to many users here do not have something of equal value or else they'd sell it in the first place and not take a loan, etc.

I doubt many users would do this.

Overall I agree with most of your points, but for a forum full of underaged paypal users or people who just can't get a bank account, these do not work It is flawed.

This is where somebody brings up the whole "MC-Market Credits" system and the somebody else shows why it's flawed; I'd rather not watch that unfold so let's get that out of the way already.

Alot of users here are US based. Even if their parents could get a bank account for them, I doubt many users would have parents willing to risk their child's bank account to get fucked over financially with loans.

Well, not sure how it's a risk, but sure if it IS a risk it's not an option.
Then again, none of those kids should be doing loans in the first place (Don't do loans, kids! ;p). Loans are supposed to be a carefully regulated thing, unlike just selling stuff you've made to other people. But on the other hand, the ability to do things like that also allows for a few to grow 'great' before coming of age.

Just in 10 mins I've got like 3 requests of people willing to each give me $50. That's a $150 exit scam in less then 10 mins. Imagine what they're able to do in x amount of time, they won't open a scam report because the ROI can be something like 2 weeks. While on other things like "OGs, and Semi-OGs", you're able to retrieve the account 99% of the time, and the scam report will be there a day later. And when it comes to builds, almost everyone wants proof. Without that they don't buy. So on and so on.
