Context:

After reading this thread: www.mc-market.org/threads/224150/ It seems that users are given warning points for reporting several threads in a short space of time, even if those reports are valid. Which me, and others feel is wrong.

However Justis showed in a screenshot that the rule is there to stop people from spamming the reports with threads that dont need to be delt with urgently, since it slows down the speed in which staff can go through them therefore more serious reports like dox's etc take longer to be seen too. Which is a valid point.

Suggestion:

When the report button is pressed the user should be given 3 options. Low, Medium and High. The user can type their report reason just as normal then click one of those 3.

High would be for threads that need dealing with ASAP, dox's for example.

Medium would be for things like someone trying to sell someone elses work for example.

Low would be say someone trying to sell alts, post in the wrong section or the example shown at the top of the thread.

Staff members when looking at reports would see all reports tagged High first followed by Medium then Low. That way importent reports get seen to quicker, and none importent ones dont get in the way. But can still be seen to, when there are no others more important. That way users can be free to report anything without needing to worry about it distracting staff members from more importent reports.

The box where the user clicks Low, Medium or High would have a breif example of what each is for. If someone keeps reporting threads as High when they are infact Low, then staff should still add warning points.

This was attempted for a brief amount of time with the support tickets system. It simply isn't something we're interested in doing, a user may think their issue is at a high concern when we may see it as a medium. It isn't going to be friendly for New Members to learn and utilize.

Issues are handled on a first come, first serve basis. With the exception that we feel the urge to skip over an issue and come back to it later. I don't see what you're suggesting becoming a reality here, sorry.

So how about solving that by allowing users to select a preset report? You could have one for a DOX, one for false reputation (which requires you to insert further detail), one for a low quality post (obviously low priority), etc. That can be done for the most common report reasons (the ones that you guy get spammed with a lot), and then automatically sort them in categories at the bottom of the reports page, with the custom ones up top and a menu that sends you to a specific category. That way, if you feel like getting a few spam posts out of the way, you have all of them at once instead of having to comb through a bunch of reports you really don't know what to call on, or reports related to something you have no expertise on (for me this would have been account-related stuff).

It's a way of combing out the chaff, so that the custom reports that require a complex call can be viewed more easily. Then it is also far more justified to give warnings for people that spam the custom reports with something that has a category.

Even just having the 3 categories I mentioned (spam posts, false reputation and DOX) would probably help a lot already. You could put DOX at the top, since those are pretty urgent. Spam posts could end up at the bottom, and maybe when a mod feels like something that doesn't require difficult decisions, they can work through 20 of them in a row, because they'd be neatly lined up instead of the chaos that I recall the report system being.

Users often miscategorize their problem, and I don't think that giving more options to set priority would fix any problems with the system. If something is truly urgent and you send me a PM about it I will typically help you rather than waiting in queue, but many people think that their generous medal should be considered a top priority.

I don't see the point.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion.
