If you head over to the Contests and Giveaways section, you’ll notice an abundance of “Paying $3 for a server name!” or “Paying $5 for a plugin idea”.

I believe that users holding a contest for “ideas” should be required to choose a winner (the best name/idea), and make that winner known on their thread when the contest closes, regardless if they don’t like the idea.

Users can simply open a contest, collect names/ideas, and then close the contest with the excuse of “Didn’t like any of the ideas”. And then a few months later, use one of the names or ideas a user suggested on their contest, for free

If MC-Market were to require a winner, regardless if the contest holder is fully sold on the name or idea, it would thwart attempts to get free names and ideas. It would ensure users are rightfully paid for their brainstorming.

Let me know what you think!

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

I don’t think I’ve ever actually met someone whose won one of these contests before. With that being said, this feature would be very helpful.

At the end of the day though if you can’t even come up with a name for your server you probably shouldn’t be trying to create one though...

I've held I believe 3 of them and I always paid someone even if I didn't end up using the names/ideas I received since usually, I got a few ideas from it.

I thought it was required in the first place to pick a winner?

In most cases this is already how we handle it I believe. Geek has been going through and moderating that forum very recently by looking at all of the giveaways/contests and ensuring that what was offered has actually been given away.

Denied, thanks for the suggestion
