To an extent, GCSE's do mean something. I dropped out in year 10 for very valid reasons and have tried for multiple jobs since, the thing in my way? No grades.
I do agree. However, the way the GCSE system is, well it's not how it should be. It doesn't give people a good chance especially with mental problems which most people have in today's society.

College definitely sets you back for university, I do not know any universities that accept college grades, they all list A-Level grades. GCSEs aren't even that hard, you just need to put work in. There is no content there that's out of reach to anybody, it may be harder than other content, to you, but you just put more work in. Being somebody who's gone through that system, I find it perfectly acceptable. It isn't perfect, and could be changed, but (you're not going to like this) I'd make it harder.

edit: our education system is a joke, because the subjects are inadequate; too basic, too easy, not good enough.

yeah i think its shit, i think the whole education system is shit. I had to drop out, my mother is disabled, my father is her carer, they can't exactly teach me so they asked about support and how much it'd be, we were told I'd have work sent out for free from my old school and I'd have a tutor once a week to check through my work, how much of that happened? None of it.

I assume your someone who likes exams and not a practical type of work person which would be why you don't really disagree with the system that much which is fair.

With the College, we can agree to disagree on that one. As I where live and many counties around me all accept both College and 6 form grades.

Oh not at all, I'm terrible at exams. I, personally, don't think there's a type of person who's "good" at exams, I understand bad at exams, but nobody's good at them. Some universities take college courses, perhaps - I don't know, but as I said I've never heard of them. The better ones only take a-levels or equivalent that can be translated to UCAS points.

Even if you fail your GCSEs, can retry in college. I failed English, retook in College and absolutely aced it.

Plus tbh, if you fail even so - who cares, just show that you’re more than some written values. Some people work better in certain environments.

Very true, I'm not good at exams by a long shot, but I still tried hard and got results I'm happy with. Just try as hard as you can, and you'll get results that match it.

Yeah, when I did my GCSEs my teachers always told me it would be the end if I failed - I retook in college and I loved doing it.

In school you have a ton of exams to worry about, in college all I had was English to worry about.

Plus tbh I really think employers would be more interested in how you act, and how you present yourself. As said previously, people work better in different conditions.
