Well guys... I never thought I would have to make a thread like this, but here we go.

Fellow users of MC-Market, we are under attack. Everything we have built up over the years may soon be gone. Our reputation, our profiles, our dignity, all lost.

Mick is proposing we "grey out" and have the option to disable legacy feedback so that it's no longer of any use. This is all set to go down on January 1, 2020. For those that don't know, legacy feedback is reputation that was created before the changes a while ago.

It's simply not fair - Everyone should be on our side, the people's side. No matter if you've been active on MCM for years, are a staff member, or even someone who joined yesterday.

Imagine this: You joined MCM years ago and through your time here you've done hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of deals. You have amassed a pretty good amount of well earned reputation. Then all of a sudden, it's taken away.
--> Well now you don't have to imagine it; it'll become reality January 1.

______________

Very well known and respected members of the community will now look just like someone who joined a month ago. Here are a few examples:

upload_2019-12-2_20-53-56.png

Glove, perhaps the most widely known and respected member of this community, will now only have 12 reputation.

upload_2019-12-2_20-55-29.png

Chearful, a very respected member, will now have 3 reputation.

upload_2019-12-2_20-53-36.png

Kelsey would now have 2 reputation.

upload_2019-12-2_21-11-29.png

iNg, formerly at 37, will now have 2 reputation.

Need I go on? This will happen to countless members that use this site every day.
______________

As for me? I have already lost about 25 reputation and I fear I will be left at none once legacy goes into affect.

If Mick decides to go through with these plans, these well known members who have done thousands in deals will look like members who joined a month ago. After January 1, these well known people will look like other noobs in reputation.

This will also cause a large amount of confusion: new members won't know who to trust, some people will leave MCM forever, there will be more fights, and a whole lot more.

To conclude, this can be perfectly summed up by Chearful's response and the amount of agreeances it received:
upload_2019-12-2_18-32-7.png

Chearful, by the way, will be losing 167 reputation.

--
I am proposing that reputation SHOULD NOT be tampered with. Sure, Mick and his team can change the system however they please, just don't get rid of reputation while doing it. People have spent years on this, don't take it away, Mick. For the sake of the community, don't do it, Mick.
--

What are your thoughts? Something must be done. Be sure to 'agree' with this thread so we can save MC-Market before January. We don't even have a month left.

Yes, because mick is about to delete thousands of earned reputation.
Not delete. Kept public, merely grey, and allow everyone to choose for themselves whether they include legacy feedback in their totals.

You can’t easily tell if people are farming feedback. Most people judge people by their totals, and don’t go reading through the contents of all of the feedback, especially the oldest of it all.
If everyone cared about the contents more than they did the totals, then the recent suggestion thread https://www.mc-market.org/threads/544506/ wouldn’t have any disagrees, because it keeps all of the feedback public. The main change is that it allows people to toggle whether or not the old system's feedback is displayed in their viewed totals.

As an active buyer of goods and services. I do not look for, nor care about reputation from years ago.
I will always be looking at the most recent transactions.

If you're providing a service long-term on MCM, you should really focus on future rep and not dwell on old ones.

In my opinion, your good reps from long ago don't mean anything to a seller buying today

Removed because you expect us to trace people back a year or two maybe even three and get "proof" or "feedback" as you've been calling it just so we can keep the rep.

Let me remind you, that is suppose to be done for each and every reputation point, which in some peoples cases is over 200 people to get to for "proof".

I'm sorry, but fuck you if think we'e going to do that for your own comfort to make shit easier for you guys. All we've ever gotten as of recent is shit, and you expect us to give you guys stuff from years ago to keep something that we earned.
What if I asked you to type out every single reply to a post you've ever done? Would you do that? Trace back threads years ago, some of which probably locked or removed? That's how it feels.

And we're stressing over some old reputation because we worked our asses off for it, dedicated our time to YOUR forum, which benefited you. We helped you get to where the peak of the market was, and we get treated by having our hard earned reputation stripped away because it's from ages ago.

While we're at removing things from ages ago, let's just delete the forums.[DOUBLEPOST=1575343546][/DOUBLEPOST]And yes, this is an angry message, because I just don't care anymore. No matter how hard we try you'll just prove us right time and time ago that you guys DON'T listen to us.

I honestly think this is a good compromise. But whats the issue of just defaulting it to show legacy rep and have the option not to show?

Yes kept public. The suggestion thread states that we will stop investigating legacy feedback, stop allowing reports on them, stop asking for evidence to prove the claims, and it will all still be kept public. If you don’t convert it over to the new system, it will still be kept public. It’ll just be greyed, and everyone will be able to choose whether or not they want to see it in their totals.

but at that point your basically shunning the old rep, which is just as important as anything recent.

whats the fucking point in "greying it out" to show it's not relevant or whatever the fuck your trying to get out of this at this point if its still gonna be visible!?!??!?!?

Then we don’t get to prompt a confirmation message to our new users who aren’t familiar with the abusive history behind legacy feedback of why they should consider the totals from legacy feedback with caution, instead of taking them at face value as equal to those of the current system, because they won’t know of any system other than the one they’re currently seeing which actually requires that the claims being made be provided evidence.[DOUBLEPOST=1575344086][/DOUBLEPOST]

Old feedback was abused. If there’s no evidence, then it could have not happened at all. It isn’t as relevant as the feedback in our new system which has requirements and evidence of the interaction attached. You only need to read my history thread to understand that: https://www.mc-market.org/threads/545300/

did you see what you said?
new system is the one with the requirements not the old feedback.

why are you enforcing new regulations on old shit when the regulation wasn't even a thought???? it makes no sense.[DOUBLEPOST=1575344244][/DOUBLEPOST]your basically holding the old rep accountable for something that didn't exist when it was given/around....

We still asked for evidence during the entirety of the old system and removed any where the author wasn’t able to provide evidence, as you would know if you read the history thread. So that argument doesn’t work.
Moreover, the requirements were added to stop the abuse that ruined the value of the totals displaying in the previous system.
Why apply new requirements to old content? In order to get rid of the abuse that accumulated in everyones’ totals during the old system, and not have the problems leach into MCM’s future.

I can fully understand why the staff team wants to remove legacy feedback. It's heavily tainted with abuse and make believe reputation. However, it's completely unfair to users who genuinely attained their reputation back then. These deals still occurred even if we pretend they didn't...
