Set a Word Requirement for Replies

It has become apparent to me within the week I've came back to MCM that there is a lot of what I like to call shit posting. Shit posting is people posting stuff saying "10/10" with nothing else to add. I think there should be a word requirement for each post. If the word requirement was lets say 4 words for example, people would actually have to put some thought into their replies. Instead of saying "10/10" they can say "10/10 I love this idea". Overall this would make the replies on threads worth reading instead of seeing just a bunch of 2 word replies..



- Is it worth implementing? - Yes. Would stop worthless postings on threads.

- What are the pros and cons? - I dont see any cons here, makes people actually use their brain and type out something worth reading.

Many other forum websites use this and it is effective. I hope you consider my suggestion!


P.S If this is already implemented it needs to be heavily enforced. I see 2 word replies almost every day.

Overall, I think its a great idea, but I also think there should be a "rank" that you can earn, after posting lets say, 500 10 word replies, that will remove this limit, as you have proven yourself to be able to write a decent reply.

inbefore post spam until the 500 has been reached, to then relapse into the low-quality replies.

We don't need to give thought to anything that's ovibously retarded. I personally don't feel the need to waste time and brain power to write a nice detailed response to respond to something that is obviously idiotic. When avsterbone said "no" I didn't see the problem, many users have already provided the reasons why this idea isn't practical. You shouldn't be forced to write a response to something where the answer is clearly obvious. This is just my opinion.

Im just looking at this from the view of the OP (myself in this case). This system would essentially make the OP's understand why someone doesn't like their product. If I make a resource and the only comments I get are "bad resource" "not worth it" I won't know what to fix. If this system was in place and I got constructive feedback on my post then I would be able to fix the problems.

I was not suggesting we need a 20 character / 10 word responses. 4 words can provide good feedback for OP's so they can know what to fix.

That's over 10 characters, does it state why? No, it does not. Does this response provide you with constructive/helpful feedback? No it doesn't. Therefore even setting a minimum character limit won't provide you with constructive feedback as that isn't guaranteed. All the will happen is that users will find a way to prolong the same sentence. By setting a limit you won't be guaranteed a response that is helpful, just more spam most of the time.

I think the main reason this "suggestion" isn't working on this thread is cause people are trolling with small responses just to be funny..

I understand both sides of the spectrum. When originally making this suggestion I was thinking about past communities that I have been in where the forums were actually a place where you could get good feed back. Of course, there will be people to exploit things thats why rules would be in place. Rules dont stop people and I understand that.



The amount of disagrees is overwhelming. You guys are disagreeing on something that is ALREADY implemented.. Makes me wonder, should we remove this "policy" all together?

Here is what you can do, if somebody says something retarded then report it or ask a Staff Member to delete it as it useless and/or un-needed. That's how the rule is enforced.
