Hello,

Looking to see if there are any suitable terraformers/organic makers for Sphaera which is our commission team for such services.

Sphaera comprises of I, Koala, LeafySeaRabbit and ShadowLegionary. We're also members of Mystic Absents.

Sphaera is essentially the Mystic Absents' terraforming end.

http://www.planetminecraft.com/member/mysticabsents/

(Portfolio etc) - http://www.mc-market.org/threads/48009/

Our thread shows that we have the most expansive portfolio and are easily the highest quality terraformers between here and Spigot. We're looking for another terraformer and an organics maker. We're currently doing a lot of DLC projects, portfolio pieces and making custom organics sets for ourselves, hence we're not accepting any further commissions until Summer, meaning between then and now will be preparation time for larger commissions. You may still get commissions between now and then however we're scaling down for the moment for these purposes.

There is no fee per commission, in contrast to nearly all other teams. You'll also have access to high quality render services with bulk discounts.

Pay and Work :
Pay depends on the amount of hours and work you do, you'll be paid per commission whether those commissions are for : organics, terraformed maps, warzones etc. Payment solely depends on availability of commissions and how many you complete.

We follow the prices outlined in our thread, typically varies as every single commission is different.

Approximately - 10 to 50 hours work per week.
Approximately - $100 to $500 per week.

The above is intended for solo work, for any collaboration works payment will be divided and decided by the overall manager, thus me.

You will be dealing with clients to an extent also, all commissions are collectively organized by me.

For organics makers you will be paid per set of organics as they're needed + regular pay for commissioned small scale organics, we anticipate all individuals to learn from each other and develop skills such as Render Making, Graphics and Terraforming/Organics.

Large scale organics makers will be paid as regular commissions come in, meaning your portfolio will be a strong factor here as there is currently no large scale organics maker in the team.

Payment will be via Paypal USD.

Requirements :

Overall applicants must speak fluent English, have a detailed and expansive portfolio as well as display experience in their application, be willing to participate in group projects, be willing to take on commissions as outlined with prices in our thread and prove their portfolio if necessary to be successful.

Terraformer :
-World Painter Experience
-Ability to shape and texture terrain in a very detailed or unique manner in WP
-World Machine Experience
-Ability to shape and texture terrain in a very detailed or unique manner in WM
-Knowledge of device nodes as well as possess a legitimate copy of the latest version of WM and other plugins
-Knowledge of advanced texturing methods
-Knowledge of macro usage and exporting multiple height maps into WP for MC
-Ability to create landscapes of a minimum size up to 15,000 x 15,000
-Problem solving skills
-Show us some .TMD/.World files and be able to explain some of them to us if we decide to ask you some questions based on the terrain
-(Plus) Extensive Voxel Skills
Organics Maker :
-Ability to create either large scale or small scale detailed organics
-Small scale organics include spikes, custom trees, rocks or similar entities
-Large scale organics makers must have the ability to create interesting and detailed organics with a fluent form of colouring and shaping techniques used
-(Plus) Zbrush Experience
-Ability to create unique styles of organics

Notes :
We're looking for people we would regard as highly skilled and suitable in either of these departments and if you're declined it will be for one of the following reasons :
  • Weak portfolio
  • Lack of experience
  • Doesn't meet our requirements as an individual
If we decline you, it's final and we will tell you which one of these we felt had the most negative impact on your application - do not reply asking why you were declined, your post will be removed.

If you have any of the (Plus) requirements listed your application will be looked on much more favorably if you have a collection of the skills outlined.

You may be given a trial, depending on if we want to accept you or not and your proceeding portfolio.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not looking that urgently but definitely looking to expand this as an exclusive team, we're all linked to Mystic Absents which is also lacking large scale terraformers. Meaning successful applicants will probably end up working alongside us with MA on required terrain projects or even have a chance to join.

Also the team is obviously professional, but we're very casual when talking with each other and working on team projects etc. The requirements we've outlined are extremely specific to say the least so if you know anyone please tag them.

To apply simply post your portfolio and why you'd like to join.

Of the money you make; ever consider buying a new machine? I think i'd be a good investment for your building growth. You deserve this position.
too busy paying my rent and food with the money I make. I struggle to break even at the end of the month. Once I get stuff left over, I'm gonna upgrade. I think my Motherboard is strong enough to allow for some serious upgrading, thats what I bought the premade for.

Vouch! High Quality Work

Aww, dammit, the 15.000 blocks stops me. That and the high-detailed shaping of Worldmachine, both because of hardware problems D:

The size requirement is definitely needed, as for the high detailed shaping you shouldn't be limited from hardware at all if you can make 10k maps.

I can just barely make 10K maps. if I have other programs running that require any intensity (such as firefox) it nearly crashes. And for worldmachine, I simply can't get the high-detail mapping working.
I can handle shapes decently well, but with what im currently doing I already push my shitty hardware to the limit.

As an idea, I would consider the 1st to 4th screenshot along the lines of the quality we're looking for to some extent. They're all 2k resolutions for maps going from 2k to 8k (1st and 3rd are the same map, 1st is just a finalized version).

I can easily get those resolutions, I just can't seem to get the images at that resolution. When I click full-detail snapshot it just doesn't change.

Oh, and I have no idea how to get colormapping working either, so I'd have to make do with the basic color palettes.

Id love to join as im not Terrible at terraforming as its all ive done for the past 3 years, However I am in no way up to the standard in which you guys are even after learning from IbuildPixels and Greenwindu, tho if you could give me a few pointers in a IM id be very grateful, as for World Machine I can never get it to come out right so I stayed mainly World Painter. Either way good luck guys I love your work ALOT.

I'd just recommend experimenting a lot. Most of the WM tutorials I've seen on Youtube are vague, poorly explained and extremely outdated. Most of the highly viewed ones also teach incorrect techniques or theory so I'd be cautious with Youtube tutorials. I learnt from just messing around a lot for 6 months.

GreenWindu is ok, ibuildpixels makes nice maps -- he makes brushes in WM then uses them in WP.

Experiment and I'd do all the shaping in WM first and then paint with WP. That's all the advice I can give :p

I thank you for the advice, as of right now im working on getting back into World machine since it really does make some awesome looking terrain.

Hello,

-Ability to shape and texture terrain in a very detailed or unique manner in WM
-Knowledge of device nodes as well as possess a legitimate copy of the latest version of WM and other plugins
-Knowledge of advanced texturing methods
-Knowledge of macro usage and exporting multiple height maps into WP for MC
-Ability to create landscapes of a minimum size up to 15,000 x 15,000

These seem to be missing, we need to know you can develop HQ WM terrain as well as the 15,000 x 15,000 size requirement.

To my knowledge all of your PMC maps are 1k x 1k, and we'd need to see some core WM stuff.

Hello! I just started terraforming about 2 months ago, and in my opinion I have a ways to go until I'm as good as some of the Sphaera guys. However, I do meet all the requirements so I thought I'd apply anyway.

Here are all my terraforming albums. (My Flickr is missing some of my recent projects, I'll upload them today.)

I'd like to say though, that I terraform in World Machine and WorldPainter daily. I learn a lot every day. I figure out what works, what doesn't, and I'm a tough critic on myself.

I know when my map is good or bad, and many of mine are indeed bad; but those maps were never done for clients, they were just my experiments. When I make a map for a client I won't stop working on it till it's the best I can do.

Yesterday I was working on recreating the Rocky Mountains in World Machine, working on 2 maps for the Cronos build team, planning out a possible Survivors map for NirvannaMC, and experimenting with Height Choosers and the Ramp filter.

I enjoy terraforming with a passion and World Machine is like a game to me. I'll never stop learning and I don't see myself getting bored anytime soon.

After looking through your portfolio I do honestly believe I would be able to create a map similar to any one of those builds.

Thank you for your consideration.
