Staff Applications

A lot of people, have been complaining about the current staff situation. I say we bring in a staff application system, with the following terms of similar.

- You must be premium to apply
- You must have x amount of posts
- You must be on the forum for at least 3 months
- You must have no/few recent punishments

Then all new recruits become a "Trial-Moderator" ranking, in which they are evaluated. If they do well, they are promoted to full mod.

Let me know if you think this is a good idea.

A big nononono. Nooo. Just nooo.

Staff applications are truly terrible. There are many reasons behind this but I'll state why anyway.

1. Why? Why do we need another application system? No application system will ever work on this forum. Staff promotions shouldn't be a regular thing. It's not like staff will come and go on daily basis.
2. Adding this will only raise more questions. "But why did he get accepted? My staff app was better!".
3. Picking staff should be based off someone's behaviour on the forum. Not some silly application.
4. People would only ask about the state of their application. Just like with usernames requests.
5. They will be butthurt if they get rejected. It's a fact. They will get butthurt and start asking questions all over the place. Sometimes there might be not be a reason and you just weren't good enough. People won't understand that.
6. People will not give the real 'me' in their application. They will put more effort in writing, grammar, being correct, etc in their staff application. They might be completely different behaving on the forum itself.
7. Biased. If you deny a applicant he will instantly think whoever denied him dislikes him for some reason.

So you must donate to get a chance to become staff?

Ok I see where your coming from Ajdin but what if you couldn't talk about your application at all, and if you do it's instant-deny. And before your accepted for "Trial-Staff", the staff look at you for 2 weeks and if you're good enough your accepted. Also what if it was 5 people which only 2 people get accepted, and the staff vote on who should be accepted and then they are put on a 'reviewing process", which is what I said above.

Yeah you need to donate for staff, unless MCM is willing to give staff members premium for free if they haven't got it, you will. This is because people won't have access to SB nor TS which does and will need to be moderated

I dont understand why "they wont have access to sb" is brought up so often in these debates. If they are chatmods or moderators they would obviously be given access to the sb and ts...

I strongly disagree with this suggestion, I think all the current staff are fine and I have nothing against them. They get the job done, they do reports, they ban scammers, they moderate shoutbox. I don't see any problem with them. This is a marketplace, it's not like they're going to need a new staff member every other week. The applications (for the most part) will just be sitting there.
