Staff Badges

I hereby suggest a badge denoting "Years of service" for staff.
If a staff member has been a part of the team for a year, they shall get one.
If they've been a part of the team for two years, the old badge is removed, and they get a two year badge
Since time passes slowly, and we've hardly been around that long.. This shouldn't be too difficult to keep up with.
Not to mention a majority of staff seem to come and go...
But I do feel like there should be some indication of a difference between someone who's contributed literally years of their life to the forums and one of the dozens of chat mods that got rolled in, and left shortly after, for example.

Very few staff have reached that point so far.
Which is not a bad thing. It makes it all the more special.

Plan for the future, not for the moment.
Because by the time your plans come to life, the moment will have passed, and you'll be stuck in a future you were not prepared for.

Faster than any of us will be able to realize it, MCM will have been around for as long as most people care to remember...
And the amount of staff we'll have gone through....

As I said, I do feel that staff who have dedicated literally years of their life to bettering the forums should be recognized, during and forever after.

There should be a badge for everyone not just staff. Like a 6 month, one year, and so on.

I suggested this before...
But the thing is, there's no way to monitor every single member to see who has been an active member of the forums, and who just happened to create an account.
And at that point, you might as just well look at the person's account creation date.

Then maybe achievement badges. 1000 posts, cretain hours on the forum maybe

I think you're overcomplicating this......

Let's just stick to the original suggestion.

Create another suggestion thread if you want to see what the community really thinks.
Making everyone on the forums feel special for using MCM's services was not the purpose of this.

Agreed, seems like a common idea theres got to be an addon out there that awards users for time on the forums?

No.
Problem solved.

Look, the staff team isn't made of blind children.
We know who's been there longer. We know who's pulled their weight (and more).
We spend a lot of time with and around each other; and if you really think that a badge on the forums, indicating something each one of us already knows, is going to alter the way we see ourselves... You're severely underestimating the staff team's intelligence and resolve.

As for the time required, this is probably the least nuisance suggestion active in these forums currently.

Every single member already has a "Member Since: <date>" line right on their profile....
We can SEE how long each person has been here; done!
A badge for this would be useless and redundant.

There is no indication of when a member joined or left the staff team.
That is why I suggested this badge.

I understand that, though, the date next to a post does not look very nice compared to a badge and over all due to how people like badges and want them, it will make people want to achieve them, meaning more people say and enjoy the site.

There is currently no way to automate this.
The admins would either have to hand out badges to every member manually...
Or we'd have to pay for developers to come along and make an addon.

That's a total waste of MCM's time and resources.
There are a million other better things to be spending our money on, than a handing out badges like cookies system, because some members want a badge indicating something that can already be seen on every user's profile.
