I think that if enough people have a complaint against a particular staff member, that there should be a vote taken (by poll). If this vote is over 75% yes to remove them, then they should be removed from the staff team. This would be useful if a particular member is being abusive or is hated in the community, and disrupting the experiences of others. This is a marketplace after all, not a concentration camp. Leave your opinions below.

So if a staff member bans and warns users for doing something that violates the rules but then everyone hates that person and users win the vote that staff member gets removed for doing his job? I could see major abuse in this, most people hate staff members that warn or ban them when they themselves did something incorrect. I don't see this happening.

So how exactly does staff members not being removable by vote make this site a concentration camp? does that mean companies are concentration camps, because you can't vote to fire your superiors?
Does it mean schools are concentration camps, because occasionally a teacher may be a dick to you (for whatever reasons you perceive)?
It strikes me that there's a very specific group of people on here that want to see staffmembers removed, and the staff they hate seems to change constantly, coincidentally correlating with any warnings they may have received.

I think you misinterpreted it. I am not saying it is a concentration camp because you cannot vote off staff members, I am using that as an example of how tightly the rules are enforced by certain staff members. They need to be more laid back and not give you warning points for every little rule you violate.

Well maybe you shouldn't be violating rules. Still don't see it happening. Staff members that enforce the rules are doing their job.

So basically you want people to turn a blind eye to violating rules? why do those rules even exist then?
I do agree some warning points should be temporary, not permanent (first time warnings should expire within a week, if not less) but the entire point of warnings is to, well, warn you that you're breaking a rule. If you didn't get any warnings, you'd simply find yourself banned one day, and you'd have no idea why, while staff would have an entire list of rule infractions.

And that is one reason I made this thread. There are certain rules that I do not believe that I broke yet I still have received punishment for. They are enforced at the staff member's discretion

Lets make this site ever more democratic so there can be more toxicism. Yes toxicism is now an official government, its a democratic system with toxic users!

Well, it may be possible that some punishments are too harsh, however if you know you are following them there should be no issue. As long as you don't do stupid things then you should be fine.

If this were to be implemented, good staff members would get voted off simply because there's a lot of people that simply don't like that staff member, generally because they were warned by them. Of course, that's not a valid reason for removing the staff member. They were doing their job.

I think we have great staff members, honestly. All do their jobs well.

And see, that's the problem. Other staff members and a few members of the community might believe that they are indeed good staff members. However the community may think otherwise. This forum wouldn't be here without the community, correct? I think we should have a say instead of it all being based on what you guys want.

I don't like popularity contests, they never work. However if the majority of the community wishes for a staff member to go and they can provide valid reasons with evidence for their departure it'd be ok.

I could easily say that I don't like this staff member because he banned my friend. I could lie and make up stuff. To try and get him gone.
