I personally go and look into a devouch when I see one, note I did not handle this one. If it was left up there was a reason or proof that made it a valid devouch. If it is false it gets removed. And sometimes we make mistakes, we are human, but being rude and obnoxious here won't help you and makes you look extremely unprofessional to possible customers.

I think that all devouches should be required to have the reasoning for the devouch in the post. Otherwise, staff should remove them when they are reported. If someone can just get away with going into someone's thread and devouching them with no evidence, it'd be pretty abusable. I think unless there is evidence for a devouch then it is just sales trashing and should not be allowed, as it's far easier for someone to just go in someone's thread and say "DNDW" than it is for someone to respond to that professionally and provide proof and shit against it, and honestly providing the proof and what not just clutters a thread.

In the case of your thread I think you should have just ignored them and not said anything in response. Someone made a suggestion about the price to you and you overreacted and became hostile towards them, and then it appears that other people joined in the argument against you and devouched. You are the one that started this argument by taking a simple suggestion and twisting it into an insult towards you, and thus I think all of the results of that argument are your fault. In this case I think Coco was correct to not prune your thread.

In most cases, however, I do agree that devouches without any sort of evidence shouldn't be allowed and should just be deleted when reported, as they're usually just meaningless sales trashing.

See, your argument here is that you were de-vouched because you were being rude - which you haven't exactly denied. And, for that reason, I see it as a valid reason to "devouch" someone, because in the long run, that can be a telling sign of a good/bad person to be dealing with. As a few people have pointed out, it doesn't mean all that much if someone devouches you without any proof and simply says that you were, in some way, rude to them or others.

In a flood of other positive feedback messages, it really doesn't mean all that much, especially due to McM not having any tangible way of showing your trade rating - like the percentage system that was just removed. So unless someone goes digging through your thread, profile, etc looking for bad reviews, they're not likely to zero in on that one bad review.

That being said, I find the concept of devouching someone for their general behavior to be completely appropriate. If someone has multiple devouches because that person is very offensive in one way or another - racism, homophobia, sexism, transphobia, w/e - then you bet your ass I won't be doing service with them, because I don't want to be supporting someone with that mindset. If it was one comment compared to mostly other positive comments, would it be a deal breaker? No, of course not. But if someone clicks on your profile and there's just multiple people saying how you've said horribly rude things, then that's a red flag. I mean hell, based on the way some people act in the chat box alone here, I already have a mental list of people that I am no way in hell working with based on their attitude.

And, of course, it'd always be good to say "you must provide proof with your devouch", but it's not practical. If someone saw me talking shit in shoutbox and being a World Class Bitch™, they might not know that I have threads later where I advertise for services directly dealing with people - It's not practical to rely on people constantly being able to provide proof in this situation.

Lastly, if you have multiple people devouching you due to your behavior, then maybe it's something to sit down and actually think about. Did you actually say something that other people would find offensive? Were you being overly harsh with people? Don't delude yourself into thinking that you've done nothing wrong and just try to make a change. And, if you haven't done anything wrong, then... oh well, a couple of bad reviews never killed anyone.

So,
I saw a post stating that you cant "pay" someone to vouch for you, ok seems fair.
But then someone randomly de-vouches for me because I was being "rude". Now I report it, saying like abviously if you cant get free or paid vouches, you have to have dealt with the person, so de-vouch should be the same, but NOPE! You can Devouch WHENEVER you want, to ANYONE!
WTF kind of rule is that?

The reason the OP made this thread is because of my de-vouch. The OP was extremely rude. I decided to warn potential buyers as any deal with this user has a probability to not go smooth. A

Anyways, users should be allowed to warn buyers. All buyers should have info before buying a product.
