Since people will stop paying to leaking sites, more plugins will be leaked and hence purchased less.

I want you to think about this, legitimately. Like, really put some thought to what you're saying here: "Paying thieves and giving them financial incentive to continue stealing will make the victims more profitable."

Might want to mention the fact that you’re allowed to have an account for a good reason in the post. I was a little confused. Thanks for explaining

Just wanted to point out this part of the OP (which was there when I first looked a few hours ago). It's a little tip for those who need to go over there.

"Moreover, if you ever need to visit these sites for good and necessary reasons, use ad-block filters to remove the overlays/pop-ups which attempt to force you to disable ad-block and generate ad-sense revenue for them. You can use the inspect-element tool to discover the classes being used to prevent navigation."

Well, if the authors are not paying them, the plugins of these authors will be leaked. This effect, however, will not last for long if this program succeeds.

I still don’t see how leak sites will post more resources because of profit loss? I get that they may try and offer new features and stuff to get payments but those will likely be premium resources that require you to pay.
Pretty much same as my reply to stifflered

Plugin devs should spend our money to cause other devs to suffer? Sounds like a cruddy way to treat your fellow creators.
Plugin devs should spend our money on thieves in order to be protected? Sounds like the mafia.
Plugin devs should spend our money to support thieving competitors to MCM? Sounds like you don't care for the community here.

Sounds to me like you are one of those thieves.[DOUBLEPOST=1551808681][/DOUBLEPOST]Thieves saying, "If you don't pay me then I'll leak your data." is EXTORTION and is prosecutable in court. I am proud of MCM for taking a stand. It's probably the biggest reason I'll be moving my plugins over here asap.

:/

I am in no way supporting leakers, I am just saying that plugin creators will lose some revenue for a bit, since they are already paying them.

Justis Should we be filing scamreports for Users who are found to be running illegaly distributed copys of plugins ?
I got this message in return a while back for reporting someone

Hey there,

We don't prosecute those who use leaked copies of products on their own private machines, we can't do anything about that. We ban those who leak products.

I don't believe this qualifies for a public scam report in the end.

Is there anything else before I close this report?

Because as authors stops paying the ransom money, the plugins will be "not protected" anymore. Which will cause more plugins that are currently not available on the leaksites to become available. Which then again generates less sales to the actual authors of the plugin because it is now available for free on the Black Market. And as they loose profit (from the ransoms) they're definetly going to try to cause more sitewide traffic to compensate, ergo more demanded plugins.

The way I see it atm is, If people stop paying "Ransoms" then more plugins will appear on their site bringing in more traffic. More traffic = more ad revenue.

IMO this wont affect them they could really just make users watch ads (on that site you wait 5 seconds on) to compensate for the loss of ransom money or they will find a new way to make money, regardless this wont shut them down.

At the end of the day I still want it to work out :)

I'll be happy to work along side MCM and issue take down notices and infringements if such initiatives are needed.

I've done it multiple times with success.

Yep agreed.
I believe this movement won't work in the end, because simply these changes won't do anything to the actual sites tbh, although the thought behind it is good.

Is it against the rules for people to leak files of servers, websites, projects, etc. if they deem the activities of the executives to be illegal, suspicious, or whatever?

This thread makes a stance against leak sites by punishing members who partake in leaking activities. But within the context of exposing fishy project executives and leaking the files of the project, leaking seems justified.[DOUBLEPOST=1551828113][/DOUBLEPOST]Justis ^^^^

Kinda Bullshit, I made a suggestion OVER A YEAR AGO. About one form or protection that is undeniably at least able to help. However, that has been in "pending" for god knows how long now. If MCM cared so much about leaks why would they not of put that protection like Spigot into the resources.

EDIT: 2 YEARS AGO IN 2017.
