Of course, however, the person in question is probably the CEO of those service teams.
Mate we are talking about fucking minecraft service teams on a minecraft forum. When did people stop calling themselves owner like you usually do but now they come up with all of these dumb ass titles that look so cringe they're making me punch my monitor in two.
Just to name a few
"ceo"
"director"
"secretary of board of directors"
and can't be forgotten: "ENTREPRENEUR"

tl;dr dont call yourself any of these if you don't actually have a well established "business" or you just make yourself look dumb

Edit: and while we're at it anyway, wtf are the names you guys are coming up with??? Axiomatic Consulting????????????

I don’t think you realize how unnecessary it was to call out Mason and Alistair for doing what they want to do. Shows a lot when you are sitting on a thread calling out 2 of the best cooperate managers on the site for making a career from a website.
This thread was also very stupid to post, you knew there would be controversy and that’s probably why you posted it. Unbelievable.

Mason.

Yes, I talk in complete sentences with correct grammar.
Maybe this was intended to be ironic, but as a native English speaker this sentence sounds awkward. Maybe it's just me.

It's grammatically correct, but normally people will say "speak using complete sentences" (because talking usually implies a conversation with someone else, but you're referencing how you speak, not the way the other person speaks). Also I think it's a lot more common to hear "proper grammar" than "correct grammar".

Not as bad as saying you "speak English good" though.

That's a fair point you got there.

I could technically call myself a CEO or whatever as I own a UK registered LTD but I choose not to because it’s cringe. At the end of the day it’s your opinion but you could of kept it to yourself.

I think that this post is getting out of hand, and while I do see why some people might be annoyed by the fact that users of any age use business terminology to express and highlight their experience, the thing is... it is true, and it makes sense...!

Whether someone is just doing recruitment on a service team or is a "Staff Manager" on any server (from 1 to 5000 players), they are doing it, they are doing it correctly (unless otherwise mentioned by their "boss") and do bring an outcome to the project. Therefore an HR title does make sense... The same goes for any project and title really. As long as what they "advertise" doing is indeed something that they have done/helped with and of course as long as promises are being kept, then it should be alright.

I do agree though to the fact that some people do speak very very "professionally", and that is just cringe. I do agree. I have had well over 3 investment meetings for my company (if you are wondering, yes I sealed one :) ), and believe me when I say that no one fucking speaks like that. There is some business terminology thrown around, but nothing too fking formal. It's not an email, it's not an application...

It's a game, we are Game Developers, Game Directors, Game anything. Gaming should be casual and every gamer (regardless of their involvement to a community) should be casual, fun and easy to interact with...

Even Phil Spencer is wearing just a t-shirt or button up.

It is irritating to see younger ages act as business professionals. I get tilted too sometimes when people come to me as "Professional Managers; with years of experience", where in fact don't know what the difference between CRM and CPM is or what is the average ROI of cold calling is... but they do what works for them and will eventually become professionals. Here is an advice:

at least know some stuff before approaching leads. Copy-pasting resumes, staff guides, applications and hopping on and off servers is in no way professional, and you definitely don't know your shit cause if you did, you would stay with one project and make it succeed.

I can see the passion for people to manage projects. I started my 6 years experience in Game Design and Directing, from an 8 slot Minecraft Server at the age of 12. I had zero knowledge of marketing, developing, how to speak, I did not even have an English Certificate (Hell I was selling /op for $25). In 6 years I acquired skills no University could have given me. From strategic thinking to game design methodologies, marketing, and client psychology. I used my "fake" titles (as referred by some people) and I secured an internship at the age of 17, so I do believe Minecraft has helped me evolve both professionally and as a person. Cause of Minecraft, I was invited as a speaker on a Gaming event with over 20k attendees.

To conclude, let them/us be. If they/we believe that this will do for their/our reputation in the future then alright! Attacking users isn't fine, expressing your opinion is fine though, so keep it there and keep it simple.

That is all from me, I am unwatching this thread - wish ya the best with any of your current and future endeavors!!!

I'm going to assume you meant to spell "cooperate managers" as "corporate managers" and neither of them are "corporate managers".

Keep memeing on it; I paid and invested more than $1000 in my server so I have every right to call myself the CEO. CEO is pretty much a synonym of Owner or Founder so I don't understand what's so funny about using a word other than some other word. If someone wants to call himself the CEO of a lemonade stand, but he's earning more $$ than you do, (and even if he doesn't) all you can and should do is leave him alone.

If everyone calls himself something on this forum, so shall I.

And now you're still probably going to call me out on me not earning that much with those two ""companies"" of mine either way. Call me delusional and stuff but you're honestly worse.

CEO isn't a synonym to Founder if you want to purely debate on semantics. You can have both titles at the same time, but two different people can have each title for the same company too. They are different titles.

This topic seems to pop up time and time again...

Are you referring to me?
You can't play the victim card on this thread if you keep arguing and nobody said that it was you.

So are we going to ignore the fact that you can't have a legitimate business under 18?

You can. I know that the Australian government specifically supports individuals as low as 13 years old who have to pay taxes, and I'm sure other governments should have other sorts of programmes for underage entrepreneurship too.

I knew someone a few years back that was 14 and owned an LLC in New York that generated $2mil in revenue annually. I thought there was an age requirement but he just said he formed it through LegalZoom himself.

More importantly, if you can't stand 4000 users calling themselves CEOs of cringy MC servers or service teams, then it really looks like you're not fit for this forum.
CEO is not a synonym for Founder and Owner. All 3 have different meanings.

A CEO is someone who is usually the top decision maker in a business.
An Owner is someone that owns rights to something. (e.g. I can own 99% of Google but does not mean I am a CEO)
A Founder is someone that starts or helps starts a business.
