So I recently got some old HP Proliant DL-380 G4 servers, each has two intel xeon 1 c 2 t 3.6ghz cpus, 12gb ddr2 ecc, 6 x 300gb SCSI drives, 2 x redundant 575 watt power supplies, and 2-4 gigabit ethernet ports. I was given all this old hardware for free recently and so far I am only using one of the servers for a backup server, any suggestions what to do with the rest, I have 12 of them not in use, I don't think anyone would ever want or need to buy hardware that old, and I am looking to either put them to a practical use, or recycle them for a few bucks some how, any suggestions, I honestly do not know what they can be useful for besides small backup servers? Keep in mind, when these servers were in their prime they were worth thousands of dollars each, all of these were pulled from working data centers, and these machines are highly redundant.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Be a Web Hosting provider or a Backup provider with good prices ;)

Thank you for the suggestion, I will keep it mind, that is a fantastic idea considering they have 2-4 1 gigabit ports, a decent amount of ram, and 4 processing threads, and I could do a RAID- array with 1200gb storage for cpanel, it would also get about 300MB/sec read/write with that raid array, perfect for web servers, do you have any suggestions for an opensource web control panel? I don't have a lot of money to spend on a cPanel license currently.

Looking on ebay there are actually a lot of them for sale for at least $100, if I were you I'd sell all of them and make over a thousand dollars :p

In my opinion, cPanel is the way to go.

As soon as you go down the rabbit hole of open source panels, it can be a pain to come back. So I would stick with one or the other, don't mix them or try and go back because it *can* be a nightmare.

Good luck! It is very exciting and great fun!
