Hello MCM!

I'm to_er, a GNU/Linux enthusiast who has been using GNU/Linux for over 8 years. (Ubuntu Feisty Fawn being the first GNU/Linux distro I ever used). I've since been a distro hopper and used Fedora, Open SUSE, Slackware, etc - finally settling on Debian.

My server management journey started 4 years ago when I helped run a cube game server (http://cubeengine.com). Although primarily intended as a game server, it hosted many things: our clan website, game resources, a game leader board, a mail server, and some of my experiments.

Making my entry into Minecraft hosting a little more than a year ago, I worked closely managing dedicated servers and VPS for a short lived, albeit excellent, Minecraft shared hosting company.

What I am offering -

WEBSITE / WEB APPLICATION SETUP -​

1. A secure web server setup (Apache, NGINX, or Lighttpd.)
   
   
2. MySQL or MariaDB.
   
   
3. PHP and essential plugins.
   
   
4. Your website - any open source CMS/Forum script (phpBB, wordpress, etc. . .)
   
   
5. Basic server hardening.

MAIL SERVER SETUP -​

1. A fully functional mail server (Postfix + Dovecot + Squirrel/Roundcube mail ) with SpamAssasin, CalmAV, and MailScanner.
   
   
2. Outsourcing with Zoho or other companies.

MULTICRAFT / CPANEL / WEBMIN SETUP -​

1. The panel itself. (You must purchase the license).
   
   
2. Minecraft server mods configured to your needs.
   
   
3. Plugins configured to your needs.
   
   
4. Billing Systems (Blesta, WHCMS, or Boxbilling).

I'm also comfortable with: VestaCP, ISPConfig, and Ajenti.

DOMAIN NAME SETUP -​

1. All DNS configurations.
   
   
2. Will configure using Cloudflare (recommended) or BIND
   
   
3. Subdomains for hosting multiple sites on one server.
   
   
4. Free Let's Encrypt SSL Certificate(For that green padlock in the address bar).

BACKUPS -​

Using rsnapshot, Hourly/Daily/Weekly/Monthly configured to your needs with optional email notifications.

SERVER HARDENING -​

1. fail2ban: To protect your server from bruteforce attacks (protects SSH, apache, etc . . )
   
   
2. mod_security(for Apache): I use OWASP CRS configuration with it so it protects your website from various commonly known exploits.
   
   
3. Mod_evasive (for Apache): Provides some protection from DoS attacks.
   
   
4. Web server hardening and intrusion prevention using Snort.

NETWORK ADMINISTRATION -​

1. Adding New IP sets.
   
   
2. GRE Tunnelling.

BASH SCRIPTS -
​

Custom bash scripts that will ease your job of starting/closing multiple servers, backups, updates etc..

SERVER TROUBLESHOOTING -​

Have an error? Chances are I have already encountered it. The most common, and easily solved, are permission errors and daemon crashes.

TIME FRAME:
Varies depending on the project. If you find me online, basic stuff may be completed within an hour or so.
PREFERRED DISTROS:
Although I believe in the overall unity of the Linux world and most distros are similar, I prefer working with: CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian.
PRICING :
If I consider the work to be so basic, I might do it for a vouch. My pricing are really cheap. Most of the setups mentioned above cost way less than others charge. For instance, a well secured LAMP/LEMP with domain configurations costs only $5. I'll be writing a well organized pricing table, but for the time being, you'll have to contact me for the prices.

Get a VPS and play with it for a few months. You can learn all these easily. The rest like troubleshooting comes from experience

I'm sorry I didn't keepup to your expectations but c'mon we are all humans. I filled up the application for joining your server as staff thinking I would be welcomed as someone in your team -- which you did to be honest. This week has been busy for me and I wasn't expecting any task right away but I agreed to set up zoho mail for you because I thought it'll be done in a few hours. First I set it up on my zoho account(This took more that 2 hours for getting the namecheap admin transfer to work and waiting for your reply on existing MX records). And you told me you need to change the email of zoho admin to your email which was not possible because I also host mails for some paid clients there. By this time, my day was over and the next two was awfully busy. Meanwhile you messaged me these : "*DemotedReason: No effort and or time " and removed me from the staff.
OK. That was it, I opted out of your project since I don't actually like the idea of "Late ? You're fired!". It's just a personal choice, please don't feel offended.
