While I have been in the MCM community, I have realized there are many items being auctioned all the time. However, I have noticed that many players are taking back their bids. There should be some sort of punishment (ex. 2 day temp ban) if they chose to back out. I understand that there should be the option of backing out if it isn't what you expected but lets say you bid $200 on something where the last bid was $100. Now, anyone looking to purchase it for less than $200 won't bid and the seller isn't getting its maximum profit. As I know this cannot be stopped, I think that this will make players more cautious about bidding. I think that the way this would be reported is if the buyer backs out of the bid you would click the report button and say this person backed out of the deal. As this might lead to it being misused properly, there should be some sort of proof required of a player backing out. This will also keep new players off of these legit threads who bid a insane amount to troll.

What about the times when someone bids, and then a thread owner comes back a month later and wants to sell it?

Also what about the times when it seems as if someone is very shady.
If someone is really shady, then you don't bid! It's simple. If there is a bid on it, then the seller should have to take that bid in the deadline period.

Sometimes people don't know that someone is shady before they bid..

Also deadlines are rarely followed by..
then a scam report should be opened. If someone has 100 ratings they probably aren't shady. If it is some person like aXed who is probably an extra account then you don't bid

I disagree with this. Some people place bids on products to 1.) Come back to it later or 2.) They like what they initially see. Should a person be punished for bidding on a post and later finding out that the user stole the map, so he then retracts his bid and gets punished? I don't like this suggestion. Sorry.
As I said in my initial post, if there is reasoning to why you aren't going to pay, then you shouldn't have to. In most online bids IRL, your credit card information is required because then you cannot back out.

You can be warned for this (the amount of warning points is hefty).

I think it should be more enforced then[DOUBLEPOST=1460685074][/DOUBLEPOST]
I disagree with this as well. Ebay allows users to retract bids on all products at any times, and you see how successful they are.

Before the deadline is over. Once the deadline is over and a player bidded and now the seller cannot contact this shady buyer, then they lose their amount of profit made and the buyer has to extend the trade deadline

People should get punished for going back on a bid, other marketplaces like flippa make you legally binded to paying the bid if you won the auction. Unless the thread/auction is breaking MC-Market's TOS, the user should be at least held responsible within the forums for going back on a bid, if not legally.

I agree you can't take back a bid once the bidding is over, but this should only apply if a deadline is made clear before bidding. So, say, the thread says "bidding ends 6 days after first bid". then it cannot be taken back after those 6 days pass.
However if it isn't made clear and the user says nothing (even in reply to questions about it) on when bidding ends, just claiming they'll end it whenever, it should remain possible to retract a bid for at least 24H after the ending time was communicated.

Some people don't put an auction end date on their threads and say 'When I get a reasonable offer' which pretty much voids the reason for an auction, or they keep extending their end date which does the same thing which can cause issues with this as people who place a bid may want to back out or may use the money they had when they placed that bid due to a pretty much 'endless' auction.

Sometimes things happen that require a user to spend their money elsewhere. If nobody is hurt by the deal or scammed, what does it honestly matter? Oh, yeah.... The OP who's probably crying they lost money.

The whole point of making this thread is to make sure users are aware of the bid that they are making.

I'm sure people are aware of what they are bidding for, I mean if they didn't why did they bid in the first place? This is basically forcing users who could potentially have to back out of a deal for a good reason to go through with a deal anyway or else be subject to a form of punishment. Not to mention if they wish to retract their bid and the staff say no most of them are just going to take the warnings points and waste more of the OP's time.
