The Plain Theft Of The ServerGoat 2.0 Site.

Hello Members of The MC-Market,

I am writing this on Tuesday, the 22nd of February, earlier, one of our staff members at ServerGoat made a joke giving a Gyazo link and saying 'This looks familiar', I look at it and I get furious, it was a plain out copy of ServerGoat's website. I went into live chat speaking with Eric, pathetically, his only response was 'No code was stolen from ServerGoat'. The theme, and everything was matching to ServerGoat's site, this was beyond a coincidence. I immediately asked my Marketing Executive ( 21217 ) to make a group including me, Eric, and him, to formally address this matter. This got out of hand, due to this, we decided to take this out to the public and address his thread. We did this, and a lot of people agreed with us, and obviously, his staff team of two people, did not and commenced by reacting to our replies with a ‘Funny’. Our site was done by 1amDev , a great developer which I paid an amount in the three digits to do a site for us, I had an idea, however they said that it looked too much like another party’s website, so, 1amDev told me that he had this idea he had been thinking about, I knew he was a great developer, so I asked him to just go with it. Now, fast forward to our site compared to Adempts site.

I'm sorry, but there is just too much proof there for this to just slide, I have given Eric 24 hours to either change the website completely, or take it down. Any other way, he will be hearing from my lawyers.
Just to clarify, this is not a personal attack, I believe Eric is talented, however, what he did was plain theft.

Now I'd like to comment on the "similarities" between the two websites:
- Any website can use the same fonts
- Any website can have typing text (It's a free project here)
- Those titles like the "Our Staff", etc. Were made by myself a while ago when messing around with CSS (Same as the buttons) and I never realised that they were so similar to ServerGoat's.

I'd also love to hear from your lawyers and get them to try and defend your case which is ludicrous.

Youre missing the point. Its not the fonts or the typing text, its that the layout is nearly identical, everything is in practically the exact same place and a similar order as servergoat. The layout is without a doubt copied. On top of that, saying "ill remove it when I finish the new design" isnt worth anything, it should have never been used in the first place. Anyone with commense sense can see the design is extremely similar

You know, this response really makes me laugh. Now, lets continue in a professional manner. How is this personal? I have had nothing against you for the past months since you messed up Ghast plugin, and put it in my hands, you from past conversations I can definitely tell you that you are :

After seeing what I saw today, I was disgusted to know that you really had the nerve to copy our website, and say that it is not like that? Are you serious? It is obvious that you copied our site. Sure, you may not have the same code, however you have the same theme. Also, all of those statements against my similarities are false, it could not be plainly coincidental that while having all of those other similarities to my site, you just 'stumble' across that CSS which makes your headings look like that..

I could make Apple's site from scratch, that means I copied it, but the code is different.

Quite a few sites have that. The CSS animations behind them are quite different.

• Your logo doesn't move, his does.
• His boxes turn grey when hovered over, yours don't.
• His text moves down on hover, yours doesn't.
• Drop down animation is also slower on his.

That part looks completely different, other than the typing CSS effect. Which is something quite a few sites use. Its not unique feature. Just google "css typewriter effect".

Given, they do look a bit similar. His ha a button, and is laid out in different positions. Fonts the same one most sites use.

There's only so much you can do with HTML, JS and CSS. It happens. Its not obviously copied, and personally, I wouldn't have felt confident enough to say its copied, when its quite possible he just came up with a similar design. There are far far more differences than similarities. I've sites that look far more copied than this.

Ultimately does it matter that much. Both sites don't look that similar, they are different enough. Personally I see it as more of an attack on him because he is offering a similar service therefor is competition. So making 2 threads to discredit him is a great way to put people off using him.

I will just say right now that it is not a dig at him as he is a competitor, it is the simple thought that he has the nerve to make his site the same as ours, and label it saying 'I see no similarities at all'. Sure, there are tons of sites, but really?
