Alright so I'd like to know the minimum age required and the minimum skills required to open a host.

I'd also like to know what positions do I open to handle stuff like technical issues, billing issues & other stuff.

Also how much budget do I need to have a single node alone? (not gonna add more until I get customers)

Also do I need to do something legal or will I be able to open one with no registration? I've seen people register their host 2-3 months later and would like to know about this.

What are the best affordable providers to use?

Not trying to compete at all btw, I'll be pricing it 1$/GB like everyone which won't affect anyone.

I've just been wanting to open a host for a while and had no money but now that I've saved $200+ from selling resources I'd like to start a hosting company.

Let me know. Not really planning on opening another for like 6 months cuz 200$ feels less.

Just wanna have a game plan on how to start. Searched online and couldn't find any proper ones as most of them are directed to webhosting.

Thinking to get blesta, should I go monthly license or yearly? thinking monthly cuz if there might be some issue I wouldn't be wasting my money.

tbh, don't bother opening a hosting business if you don't have previous experience in that field. They are way too many budget hosts out their. The competition is just too high. Invest your money in something else

Didn't open a thread to read that, I'm well aware of the downsides but I have different plans with it. As you said don't bother opening a hosting business if you don't have previous experience
I very well asked the minimum skills needed for it as I'm aware of the high skills needed to operate a host.

So unless you got a answer I'd suggest not bumping the thread.

I'm assuming you're wanting to run a Minecraft only Host? Depending what you're wanting to host licensing fee's are a killer. Hosting industry is quite saturated compared to some other markets, so be prepared to have a good marketing strategy, or large amount of funds to continue the service without relying on sales to pay for everything at the beginning. If you have any further questions feel free to private message me, happy to answer any of your questions :)

Q:Alright so I'd like to know the minimum age required and the minimum skills required to open a host.

A: There isn't a "minimum age" unless there is a local one, though you either need to hire someone to manage support tickets or have skills with managing blesta as well as basic Minecraft questions as well as fixing behind the scenes issues (with the node, not necessarily with individual servers, though that helps).

Q:Also how much budget do I need to have a single node alone? (not gonna add more until I get customers)

A: It depends. You could get a super cheap node (with 1 dollar a gig hosting, is going to probably be the case) so a couple months of that plus the license, add the fees you pay to whoever manages it and that should give you a rough number.

Q:Also do I need to do something legal or will I be able to open one with no registration? I've seen people register their host 2-3 months later and would like to know about this.

A: It can be a benefit to have it legally registered early, but it depends where you live. I would just look up if general business's in your area always have to register, or if you can run one as a hobby and no have to.

Q:What are the best affordable providers to use?

A: For your purposes, kimsufi or soyoustart (both are going to either have super thin margins, or your going to need to oversell)

Q:Thinking to get blesta, should I go monthly license or yearly? thinking monthly cuz if there might be some issue I wouldn't be wasting my money.

A: Depends how committed you are. In theory, if your not committed you shouldn't be making a hosting company anyway, but if you still want to but want a way up if its a complete failure, then go monthly.

Right now, the world of hosting is somewhat saturated, but if you want to start your own company, I would recommend the following:

If you want to know how much it is going to cost you, then first think about what you are going to need, for example, the billing system, support and ticket system (in case you want to separate them), the servers and nodes and the hosting for backups (such as S3 or BackBaze), after you have a list of services, go to Google and research the providers and how much they cost per month, for example, how much does a WHMCS license cost, a ReliableSite or Hivelocity server, the IPs (because of course you will need more than one IP), then make a budget and see if you have the money to maintain it for a few months, since the first months will be the most important and in which you will have fewer sales.

Putting the money aside, investigate what's special about the services of the competition and try to see if you can replicate that, being a saturated business you will have to think very well about how to make a good first impression in order to form your community and obtain your first sales.

Regarding staff, you can get volunteers right here at MC-Market, so for that part you can be a bit more relaxed, of course, only support staff, sysadmins and others will charge you an amount or ask for a payment.

About legally registering your company, I recommend that you first investigate everything legal-wise before starting to invest in servers and licenses, personally, I would not put money into a company that is not legally registered, and many users share this same thought, mc-market itself asks you to be legally registered before being able to promote yourself.

Of course, I give you these tips more as a user than as an owner, but I think they are very important points to be able to create a firm base and ensure your future in this business.

I sincerely hope that your project becomes a reality and, above all, that it is successful. Good luck!
