Tips for starting an online blog?

I want to start a blog about economics and business. I wanted to ask for some advice on launching from people who have started blogs that either failed or succeeded. Some questions I have are.

How did you get started?
What web host did you use?
What is the best web host you can recommend?
What are some mistakes you made?
What are some things that brought you success?
How did you make money?
How did you make enough to pay for the hosting?
How much should one invest when starting? (I can make my own Graphics and Articles).
Is wordpress good to use with another host?
Is BlueHost good?
Is GoDaddy good?
How did you get people to look at your blog?
How did you make through affiliate?
What did you learn about being an affiliate?
How did you get people to subscribe to your email list?
What are some good wordpress plugins?

You'd have to be more clear on what industry you'd want to go into, unless you want to cover them all. However I would suggest getting a site ready (WordPress) and possibly Mailchimp for emails and what not.

Shouldn't be too hard if you have the correct content. I'd advise you post on a lot of business forums though, the Chinese are a great market they love things like this!

Yeah, market, how to launch, niche, target audience are some things I have a good understanding of. What I am reay struggling with is starting. Finding a host with site back up. Upfront cost. How much should I spent on a template, graphics, hosting ect. What are the overall starting cost?
