To make the Minecraft accounts seperate.

Hi,

After the recent changes posted in the announcement, it looks like the Minecraft section has now been put into a smaller section under "Products", which I believe was totally unecessary. I havnt seen a single suggestion, suggesting this nor do I think it's appropriate to make the account section smaller, when (I'm pretty sure) it's a large part of the site.

This seems like a move to build on the suggestion made by Lotus, to completely remove the sale of Minecraft accounts. Slowly making the section less visible (in my opinion) to die out the section.

Please start making more changes the community want rather than ones you randomly would think would be a good idea without asking the community for input. Exactly like you did with reputation :rofl:

I'd also like to hear why these changes were made?

You’re correct, of course. MC-Market’s community is comprised of the users we draw to our platform. We flaunt the products and services that we want to draw more users in to join and start buying/selling. We showcase the products and services that we want to expand on our platform.

It has already been established that the sale of MC accounts violates our own rules. We enforce hypocritical policies in order to please the site’s users who’ve come to depend on that section. Moreover, as has always been known, and as the recent lock waves have further illustrated, the sale of MC accounts are among the most insecure and unsafe transactions that one can make on this website.

As much as I would love to simply cut that node off of our platform, the community has spoken and their voices take priority. We have no plans to remove it. However, at the very least, we need not continue to give it special treatment, providing it its very own node outside of products/services. Doing so not only further provides a positive bias to the Minecraft account sales, unnaturally growing that section more than others. It also encourages our members here for other business, to start diping their toes into account sales as well. We should not be encouraging that children or anyone engage in unsafe transactions, nor reinforce the idea that violating the terms of the agreements they've made is acceptable or respectable behavior.

I’m not ashamed to say this is one of those steps. A small one. A forgettable one. A dismissible one. But something.

Perhaps that analogy would hold some weight if the change made the product appear inferior to others. That’s not the case though. The change in listing only lists MC accounts as equal to our other products. The fact that they are MC accounts, completely aside. We shouldn’t have had one product listed separately from all of the others in the first place.
Leveling the playing field for all our products is not censorship. It is providing our other products and services an equal and fair chance of being seen and promoted and grown.

I don't think this is comparable to governments trying to hide political views, more parents hiding the cookie jar from a toddler. It's Minecraft, and people need to step down and remember that sometimes. Furthermore, the government hiding political views it wrong, whereas hiding something that is actually supposed to be prohibited? Not so bad.
