As 90% of the world's population now knows; Australians have taken to the shelves of Woolies and Coles to nick and buy countless toilet paper rolls and other amenities.

AMA! As someone who is desperately running out of toilet paper, I am in a unique situation to answer your questions.:tup::tup:

RIP Toilet Paper '20.

Coronavirus? Smh.
This, basically. And because a large minority of Australians are complete idiots and think that it's okay to hoard large quantities of household necessities. Panic buying stirred by irresponsible media. Stores had to impose limits on certain products (like baby milk formula stuff).

The logic behind it is to build a toilet paper fortress to protect themselves from the virus. Although i do find it rather amusing in a sense of how greedy and inconsiderate people can be. Here are some interesting events below.
- A truck loaded with toilet paper goes up in flames in Brisbane.
- A man tasered over a toilet paper supermarket fight
- Multiple brawls over toilet paper, resulting in charges and supermarkets to limit customers in buying certain products.
- Family in Queensland accidentally orders 48 boxes of 48 rolls. Total of 2,304 toilet rolls and a cost of $3,264. They had meant to order 48 rolls and not 48 boxes.
In regards to my situation, our local supermarket does not shelf toilet rolls. Instead they keep it in storage and only give the customer 1 packet when asked. Which is a great idea of controlling the situation.

I think you are simply ignoring the situation at hand.
We practically should be in our bunkers stockpiled for the next six or so months.

I find it amusing overall. My grandfather recently went to Walmart, and there were shelves in random departments like kitchen utensils just demolished. Like is it a need to buy new forks and spoons? I must buy a new whisk today!

Although I should have bought stocks once, the media started covering the virus.

Agreed. Got your beans?

Yeah I went to our shops earlier today; all toilet paper, flour, etc., is gone.

Hah, a meme in itself.

Do you have any idea what would happen to the people that came down with me if I grabbed beans? Talk about nuclear fallout yikes!

Again why buying stocks would have been a great option. So many people in panic buying loads of things they don't need or want at skyrocket prices. Would have reimbursed me loading up my bunker!

I haven't used actual toilet paper in years. Wet wipes feel so much better on my ass I'll never go back. Australia can keep it all.

There's tons of toilet paper and stuff over where I live left.

The only thing that concerned me though was when I went over to the water section & saw nothing. This section of the store is a shelve that is around 30-40 feet long and can hold about 200 packs of water. The employees there looked like they were about to take it down.

If the world does end up going into chaos, (which shouldn't happen, the coronavirus is an upgraded version of the flu) I'll be fine. I have a basement filled with games, 10 packs of water, over 50 packs of soda, and a ton of non-perishable food upstairs!

Seriously, I just got home form the grocery, no toilet paper to be found...
Well here's the problem in a nutshell:
  1. Panic buyers buy out all of the shops' toilet paper for a week or two. No more toilet paper.
  2. People who miss out on toilet paper all suddenly need toilet paper even though the panic buyers have stopped, so everyone buys toilet paper. Toilet paper is gone again.
  3. Repeat step 2 nearly infinitely.
Hence restrictions on toilet paper will no longer work :(
But yeah, sad life. Dad managed to find a bag of it, idk how.

Tbh I've considered it in the past and yeah, I can see why. Enjoy ;)
