I think that school takes more time than a job. Let's do the calculations I'll use my schedule as an example. I have to get on the bus at 7:45 am and get home at 3:30pm. So, according to timeanddate.com's time tracker, that's 7 hours and 45 minutes. On top of that the average receives hour and a half of homework each day. That's 9 hours and 15 minutes spent on school per day. That's 46 hours and 15 minutes a week, that's a full time job plus six hours overtime. Share your thoughts in the replies.

Edit: You don’t get paid for school

Or you could just do the math :p
I also did, I want to back up my statements with proof so fools like you can't challenge it.

lol your schedule is a joke, my school starts at 8:30 every day and I'm done at 4:50 pm. it's absolutely outrageous. My schedule by itself takes up 8 hours and 20 minutes of my day. Then if you take your average for 1 and a half hour for homework it adds up to 9 hours and 50 minutes. 2 more hours each day than a 9 to 5 job. Now tell me that is normal.

It’s not, that’s the point of this post. But yeah, you have it much harder than I have.

2 - Lunch Break (eh late tho)
5 - Walk from Uni to Home.
6 - Some snacks and shower
7 - Work till 9
9:30 - Drive from Work to Home.
11:30 - Sleep.

What?! You guys are already complaining with that when my schedule in grade school up to high school was like 7AM to 5PM, sometimes the time is extended to 6PM. Not to mention that we also have assignments and projects that have an average of 2-4 assignments per 9-10 subjects per day.

(In Australia):

Briefly, we attend school up until 18, so there's 13 years of life dedicated to school. On top of that, people opt for tertiary education like TAFE or Uni... and that can range up until 35 or more years of age for phd students. I digress. The age of retirement is 67 in Australia... Assuming you start work at 18, that's 49 years of work. Lol. That's more work than school right there.

In more detail, the average school year for students is 180 days in all from 9am to 3.30pm. 6 hours and 30 minutes. For 13 years of education, this is 6.5 hours * 180 days * 13 = 15210 hours of school. On top of that we have study: in year 12, that's 90 minutes - 3 hours a night, so adding on 2 hours per night, 15570 hours of school at the very least. That's 648.75 days or about 1.78 years total.

Consider that the retirement age is 67... 49 years of work from 9 till 5 is 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, for 49 years (I know the situation is much different for most people. I'm idealising the situation heavily). 101,920 hours. 4246 days. About 11.63 years of working. Yikes dude.

^ How's that for a major flex? I'm kidding by the way. My point is, is that school feels longer than it realistically is in the grand scale of things. I know it's not for everyone and it never has been, but power through it. Life is full of dedication - and I don't like it in the slightest, but it's something we have to put up with tbh. (Also people flexing their insane times for school... why??) Uh, I digress. This isn't an opinion... but not truth either. If you think daily... sure. But then I could argue people with 12 hour shifts have it worse lol. Think big.

I just considered that school and work are hardly comparable. Read if you want; it's statistics about hours... but it's a terrible comparison as they warrant very different things from a person.

My school was 7:30-16:30 but we couldn’t leave school until 18:30.

I’d still say I had more free time in school than a full time job just because work was a lot more mentally and physically draining whereas you get a lot of breaks or waiting time in school.

Sure maybe it was more hours sometimes but I still had more free time to do what I wanted whereas at work I just felt knackered after and couldn’t do anything other than sleep or watch a film.

Unpopular opinion:
If you're spending more time on school than a full-time job (40 hours a week minimum). You're doing a study that is a level to high.

I spend way more time at work than I do at/for school.
I’m talking about when you don’t have a job.[DOUBLEPOST=1575905347][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yeah, but you get paid to do it, I don’t want to look like I have a big head but a lot of schoolwork for me is just straight boring and I can’t use my phone or anything

I wake up at 5:45 AM to get to Uni, home at 19:15, then eat and still got a bunch of homework left to do. Sleep at 10 / 11PM.
So, for me Uni definitely takes a lot more time than a regular job.

At my school if you're caught with your phone out you get an after school detention, tbh as we move into more of a digital world I think schools should teach us updated curriculum's. Well the government should update the curriculum's for schools in AUS. And as we move into more of a digital world I think we should learn more important things like coding etc as a core subject instead of an elective. I honestly don't think we should learn about buildings and societies from a few thousand years ago, then yet again it's important for us to keep that history going.

This is probably really messy and doesn't make sense but it's 2 am and oh well.

I'm now finished school and working. I understand the pain but, it'll be over soon and then, reality will hit you in the stomach when you come into the real world. ;)

You shouldn't be using your phone at work either haha. Of course you don't get paid for school, it's education not a job. You're not providing a service or anything that should be paid for unless you are part of some programs.
