Unpopular opinion: School takes more time than a full time job.

Do you think school takes up more time than a job would?

  • Yes, always.

  • No, never.

  • Yeah, sometimes it will take more time.

I'm now finished school and working. I understand the pain but, it'll be over soon and then, reality will hit you in the stomach when you come into the real world. ;)
I'd very much prefer working over University

It is nice. A lot more free time but, at the same time I find it harder to hangout with peers as they're now working as well.

I mean, your school schedule seems fine to me. I'm in college and I just got a moped which takes off half an hour either side of my schedule, but before that I'd leave at 7:10AM, and get home between 5PM and 5:40PM, alongside work at home[DOUBLEPOST=1575909590][/DOUBLEPOST]

Not to mention, this is the only way you're going to get a job.

I was forced out of three schools in my last three years in secondary school, I was left with no GCSEs, scared to leave my home, and desperate for a job. Without my GCSEs, it wasn't happening, I still don't have a real job and haven't since I was forced to drop out fully over 18 months ago.

It leaves a mark on life, I'm currently 16 and am expecting a daughter in 3 months time, the majority of my money comes from methods online. It seems like school takes up all your time, you have no time for your friends, but believe me, you'll be happy you've done it. I hated school, I felt amazing when I left, but believe me if I could go back and finish my final two years in school and walked into a job like most of my old friends at school did, I'd do just that, in fact I'd double my hours just to do that. School will give you what you need in life.

Lol that’s weak. I live in Asia.
I have to get to school by 7am and I usually finish around 5. I average 9-10 hours per day in school.

School is a privilege that a lot of countries do not get for free. Regardless of it takng up a larger amount of time it's only in place to make people's future better.
Agreed, 100%. Well worded, Ben!

I only have 2 college classes each day. Each being an hour long and they're super chill classes.

I have no complaints, but definitely nowhere near the difficulty of actual job.

My highschool classes were super chill as well. Even though they were from 8am to 4pm, all we did (In my classes at least in senior year and junior year) was watch movies, go on field trips, play games and do little work. Even the historical movies that was meant to teach us (In my history class) was super enjoyable to watch and everyone usually loved it

Well at uni I watched all my lectures at 2x speed then protested when they introduced mandatory attendance. And my current job is pretty chill too, school was 100% the worst for me.

7:30 am to 2:15pm, wake up at 5:30, that’s a long ass day. Taking a sport or extracurricular extends that shit to 5:30 in the afternoon. I literally spent half my day just at or doing stuff related to HS over the past few months

See in Canada it ain’t like this 8:15-2:30 with an hour of hw max in uniy classes
7 hours 15 mins max x5 36.25 hours per week and every week we will have no school from bus cancelled pa day etc so really 29 hours a week this is gr 11. Forgot to mention 1 hour lunch and 10 mins between each class we have 4 classes a day. You also aren’t late till 10 mins after the bell so let’s say it rings at 10 you have till 10:10 to get in class if it’s later you have to get a slip and that’s all you don’t get in trouble for being late

Haha same. I'm currently in Japan and our school system is brutal. Not to mention the commute just to get to school is hell in itself.

I go to high school and my schedule looks something like this,
5:45 Wake Up
6:30 Get on the bus
8:05 School Starts
3:15 School Ends
3:15 Get on the bus to go home
4:35 Get Home
So its roughy toughy.

You shouldn't be using your phone at work either haha. Of course you don't get paid for school, it's education not a job. You're not providing a service or anything that should be paid for unless you are part of some programs.
Technically in the UK (excluding england) you can apply for EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance), £30 weekly, paid every fortnight.

Yes you can technically but that isn't like an hourly pay or in any way payment for your hours working, it's maintenance to help you continue education and comes with a set of conditions. There's a difference between being paid for your hours working and being given money as part of a scheme to assist you in continuing your education (travel expenses, food, textbooks etc).

Depends on what you want to do after school. Basically i never did something for the school because i knew i would make my A-Levels. But school still sucked because i had 4 times to 5pm or 6pm. But if you want a good graduation it can be like a fulltime job.
